What We Wear Wednesday: Black 'n Fur

A simple outfit today, including my favorite top from Mango, some new fake fur from H&M and do you remember the shoes? They are the result from a little DIY project we did last year. I'm also wearing a bird necklace by The Vintageblues. This pretty little thing really grew on me and it seems to be a match made in heaven with this outfit: simple and delicate.

I really don't have much to add today. I know I already said goodbye to summer, but drizzly days like today make me yearn for some sunshine. However, rain can bring some sort of melancholic comfort. I don't know, maybe I'm in an in-between state of mind right now.

Some other news: we'll be visiting Paris in two weeks! A last-minute, impulsive decision of those who have no job and therefore don't have an income (read: me). But we're going low-budget so all should be OK. Visiting Paris beats sitting at home moping, right?

What We Wear Wednesday: Something old, something new

Considering my mom is currently moving to a new place, quite evidently that also means that I've got some stuff to move. And by 'move' I mostly mean: clear out, and especially my closet. Luckily, I've been experiencing that cluttered, suffocating feeling lately of having too much stuff (been happening more and more, am I growing up?), so a perfect opportunity emerges!

I haven't actually cleared out my closet just yet, but I did cast a quick glance on some of my old items that I might throw out. And there it was, the dress I almost wore to death back in 2009: a colorful, frolicsome summer dress by H&M. On all previous big cleaning up occasions, I kept the dress, thinking I might wear it again someday. Naturally, that didn't happen. This time I put myself to a challenge: wear the dress in an outfit that you'll actually wear and you can keep it.

BEFORE
(excuse my after-exams-drunk face):

AFTER
Dress, peace ring, flower head band: H&M (old) - Denim vest: Cheap Monday - Necklace, cut-out boots: New Look - Black oval ring - Inimini homemade - Sunglasses: Ebay

And so I did. I decided to pair the summer dress with all new items. A denim cut-off vest which I customized myself just a little bit, a flower head band, 'peace' ring and round sunglasses to get the hippie vibe going and... my new cut-out boots! I'm so absolutely thrilled with them, although I did have to search a little bit to find the perfect pair. Mostly because I didn't want to spend 100 euro's on boots like that (even though I totally loved the Sacha ones too). I'm over the roof happy with them and glad that I am jumping on this shoe trend train (while I didn't get aboard with the whole sneaker wedges thing, I guess it just wasn't my style).

Where do you stand on cut-out boots? Are you jumping on the train with me or are you content watching the train pass by from the platform?

Kwestie van (s)maak

The beautiful weather from the previous post unfortunately didn't last long. The next day it was back to a clouded sky and taking your umbrella with you whenever you went out. Doesn't it suck when it's a bank holiday but the weather just wants to keep you inside?

Luckily there was a little  market at the Chirodroom in Bilzen, organised by Sarah from The Vintage Blues,  where we could flee too: Kwestie van (s)maak. We love markets that are about handmade and creative ideas, so it only seemed right to pay a visit! Karolien's sister Kathleen was also selling her goods there. She makes jewelry and hair accessories out of old buttons and never fails luring me into buying some earrings. They are too pretty! Make sure to take a look at her Facebook page: Buttons, baby!

Karolien and I both bought the same ring from Inimini Homemade. We like chunky jewelry, so we couldn't resist. Karolien went for the black version (as you can see in the picture) as I went for some good old pale pink. Don't you love it when things are predictable? I sure as hell don't, but I like me some pale pink. A necklace that reminded me of my little pony also did some damage to my wallet. My wallet will survive, eventually.

Besides pretty jewelry there was a barbecue to still your hunger, some homemade fresh pies for dessert and some other local goods to be discovered, like Baru chocolates (the most LOVELY packaging). We enjoyed some bio apple juice, yummyy!

Enough with the talking. Let these pictures make you feel as if you were there. We will come back next year!

A glimpse of what I was wearing: the tiger sweater (Titi and the German Kid), skinny jeans and glitter loafers (La Bottega).

Yeah, what to do when it't raining outside and you have no sunglasses at hand. You use your beanie to cover your eyes.
