What We Wear Wednesday: Snow leopard

Leopard faux fur: Nastygal - Jumper: Urban Outfitters - Skinnies, earrings: New Look - Sneakers: Vans - Scarf, bag: Zara - Mittens: h&m - Nailpolish - Hema

Tadaaa! Change of scenery!

I decided it was time to take my outfit pictures elsewhere. Leave the safe boundaries of my garden, and go explore the world. So I took my camera, tripod and outfit out for a little stroll. Well, it was a 3 km walk... in my Vans... through the snow. I'm wearing NEON PINK Vans, because a part of me already believes it's spring and time for Groezrock, while the other part (the one in charge of the scarf and mittens) preserved my body from freezing to death. They cooperate well!

Fell in love with this leopard faux fur from Nastygal: it's furry, it's square and it has short sleeves! My other leopard coat is more of a .. well, coat instead of bomber jacket. So I was totally permitted to also buy this furry baby.

The jumper is a sales buy from Urban Outfitters. Originally it cost fifty euros while I only paid twelve! It has pale pink cats on it. PALE PINK CATS! That's enough to go totally psychomaniac. That and the ridiculously lowered price. And no torn seams this time, double win!

When walking home I had to reassure a sheep I wasn't a REAL leopard but only wearing a faux fur coat, and that I wasn't going to have him for dinner. No really, it kept bleating and staring at me in disbelief (sheep always look like that) when I walked by. Should've taken a picture, damnit!

Something different now. Karolien and I like to randomly ramble crazy stuff when showing an outfit, but some of our friends have already admitted they never fully read what we say but immediately scroll to the pictures. We've also noticed some bloggers who don't write anything or only a couple of lines plain outfit. Personally we like to read the posts that show an effort to write something quirky and real instead of summing up what you're wearing. Sooo, are there just two types of bloggers/ readers? What do you guys do? You actually read or just look at the pictures? If no comments show up, that will say enough and I will shut up forever. Not.

Thanks in advance!

What We Wear Wednesday: Mad Hatter

When these pictures were taken, I had just safely returned in one piece from a super-duper snow trip to Austria, so my game was a little bit off. I was tired, cold (which sounds weird when you know it was a whole lot colder in the mountains) and not used to wearing real clothes anymore. What I'd given to just walk around in my snowboard pants for another day, so comfortable! To further cherish the whole snowy vibe I had sojourned in for a week however, I had to wear my deer shirt. This much was sure.

As for the rest of the outfit: I threw on some pieces that weren't in the laundry and seemed about right. I would be lying my ass off if I would proclaim there was really a reason or an idea behind this outfit. In hindsight, I'm not even sure it works out and really is an outfit, but I too am only human (this shows in various instances, as you might have noticed). I do love the hat however, I think it adds that certain je ne sais quoi. Another plus, it keeps my hair in place when it is windy. Yes, I'm a practical girl.

And you know what, I AM SICK OF WINTER! After taking in my much appreciated yearly amount of snow, I have decided it is time for spring. Oh hear thee, the almighty one has spoken. Okay, I admit, I really am mad as a hatter.

What We Wear Wednesday: Pastel Parade

Headband: Claire's - Scarf: H&M - Jumper: Forever 21 - Floral skinnies, jacket: Zara - Glitter boots: New Look - Leaf ring: Six - Earrings: ModCloth

I woke up on Sunday and whitnessed magnificent rays of sunlight. That inspired me to bring out my floral Zara pants again and to even combine it with my floral headband that Karolien got me for my birthday last year. Then I came downstairs and took an actual look out the window. Well hello there, snow. So all my floral was a bit spring optimistic, but I couldn't care less. I was going to wear floral and pastels and nobody was going to stop me. Nobody. If I would have had a pastel coat, I would've worn it too. But alas.

As you can see: I have also found my pair of glitter boots. I scored them during the sales at New Look for only 9 euros. Can you believe that? I wasn't really sure 'bout the shade of brown, but Karolien convinced me. We're really good at convincing eachother to buy shoes, as you can also see in her previous post.

You may not notice, but I've been to the hairdresser. Quite the accomplishment because I haven't been for more than a year! I HATE going to the hairdresser because they always screw things up. This time has been no different. Okay they didn't screw up, but they didn't do what I asked either. They almost gave me a rounded fringe... A straight fringe needs to be straight, not rounded. And she didn't ask me if I wanted it rounded, she just cut along. I had to squeel "Please make it straight!" before she did so. I bet I looked as frightened as a rabbit in the headlights of a car. I also asked to make my hair more layered so that my ends fall in a V-shape on my back. I don't know if she didn't hear me or utterly ignored me, but it didn't happen. I also asked to get the yellow tones out of my blondish hair, but that didn't went very well either. But okay, I don't blame them for that. Me dyeing my own hair probably has something to do with that. And last but not least, she didn't show me my hair afterwards, you know with a mirror reflecting in the mirror in front of you so you can check your hair when it falls down your back? I bet she did it on purpose, so I wouldn't notice she ignored my wishes. Ofcourse I didn't have the guts to tell her I wasn't satisfied. I have a big mouth on (virtual) paper, but I'm a scaredy cat in real life you know. I know I'm not going back for at least another year.

DIY: Galaxy t-shirt

After encountering galaxy printed stuff (that is, leggings, jackets, skirts, t-shirts, phone cases, sweaters...) about everywhere, I decided to create a galaxymized item myself. I bought a cheapass t-shirt at H&M, scrolled the Internet for some inspiration/information, bought additional supplies and got started! I did not want to have a galaxy print all over my shirt, so I decided to print/paint a galaxy cross on it (because crosses too are ubiquitous in fashion these days). Now, let me tell you the dos and don'ts for a galaxy printed cross t-shirt.

Do buy supplies: a black piece of clothing (a t-shirt in my case), a bottle of bleach, a spraying bottle (to spray the bleach), masking tape, old newspapers, gloves, acrylic paint (I used pink, blue, white, yellow, but other colours are of course also possible), and a paint brush or a sponge.

Do wear protection: No, I am not promoting some kind of contraception, but DIYing with bleach is quite a challenge if you're a bit chaotic and clumsy like me. So, wear old clothes and plastic gloves. The newspapers are also part of this protective facility.

Do follow these steps:

1. Mark the figure of your choice with masking tape. Make sure the lines are straight and the T-shirt is flat on the table ot gloot. Not an easy task, but I thought I succeeded.

2. Place newspapers all around the cross on the remaining shirt. Attach these newspapers to the shirt with making tape. This last step is necessary to preclude the bleach from dripping.

3. Bleaching time, bitch! Pour some bleach in the spraying bottle (remember the gloves and the old clothes).

4. Spray it. You'll see the bleach turning your T-shirt a bloody red. (Sounds creepy or am I watching Dexter too much?)

5. Remove all the newspaper and toss that T-shirt in the laundry machine. This is necessary to stop the bleach from reacting.

6. When the T-shirt is all dry again, repeat step 1 and 3.

7.  Mix the different acrylic paints to get the right colours. I made purple, powder pink and baby blue.

8. Paint a beautiful galaxy landscape with a sponge or a paint brush. I started with the lighter colours and then added the darker colours. Next, add white dots that represent the stars.

9. After the paint dried, set the print by ironing on it. Don't forget to place another piece of fabric between the shirt and the iron, as the paint might still come off.

10. TADAAA! Your galaxy t-shirt!

Now, I let you in on a lot of dos, but in hindsight there are also a lot of don'ts which I wished I knew upfront.

Don't think your lines are completely straight too fast: I was pretty damn sure that they were in fact straight, but my cross is a bit/a whole lotta crooked, booh!

Don't use too much bleach: When it was time to apply the bleach, I took a deep breath and sprayed that sucker down. However, it's not like firming your hair with hairspray (in my case, loads of hairspray), so don't overdo it. Just spray a tiny bit, and after the bleach starts reacting, you can see whether it's necessary to use more. I used too much, booh!

Don't use too much paint: I naturally did, and the paint really was too tick on the shirt. Consequentially, a lot of the paint already washed away leaving my t-shirt as such, booh!

To conclude, I think this is a pretty cool DIY, but my first attempt failed or at least I'm not entirely satisfied with it. I'm thinking about trying it again, but now keeping those don'ts pretty good in mind. And you guys can just learn from my mistakes, so everybody happy, right?!

What We Wear Wednesday: Studded boots and fringes

I just realized this is another very black/grey outfit, which is quite weird for me considering I almost always wear some pop of colour. What the heck is going on with me, could it maybe be the winter blues? I actually don't think so, because although I absolutely love spring/summer, winter is not so bad either. This might or might not have to do with me almost leaving on a snowboard trip. But mostly might.

I finally took my latest addition to my shoe closet pile out for a spin. Don't you just loooove them? Lies and I spotted them at Zara in the sales, but I found them too much (I wanted normal gold studs, okay, not those starry things). How wrong was I! When we encountered a girl wearing them a few stores later, we both were sold and this was reflected in a smoldering, craving look towards each other but mostly towards the shoes. I actually imposed myself a non-shopping vow at that time, but trying them on couldn't hurt, right? Of course I couldn't leave the store without them, so BAM! Non-shopping vow shattered to pieces. The rest of the month however I did a très good job in not shopping. It was even fairly easy! Maybe because I have all kinds of trips coming up ahead and I know I have to save up for them. Including my snowboard trip next week, yiha!

Recently I also got myself a new beanie, in case you guys were growing tired of the black one. I'm not, but hey, is an additional beanie EVER a bad idea? Nope.

By the way, I totally love everything with fringes. I'm in fact looking for a leather jacket with fringes, anybody any ideas on where to find it? I've browsed through Ebay a couple of times, but came up empty. Sad face.
