B-day Wishlist 2013

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME!

I'll be spending my birthday shopping, eating sushi and sipping cava with the best of friends. The way it should be. And because one cannot go shopping without a proper birthday wishlist, I assembled one of my own. Nothing too special, just some basics and chunky earrings. I'm a sucker for chunky earrings. And apparently also for floral patterns. A leather biker jacket has been on my list for a while now. Since my favorite leather jacket got ripped on Groezrock it is in desperate need of a replacement.

I've been saying I want a Casio watch for about a year now. It started with the golden version but then everybody got it and I liked the silver ones better. Until I came across this pink beauty! I need to get my hands on one of those asap.

Now I'm off to have a jolly good time!

We Wear: Christmas attire

I will keep it extremely short today as I've got to prep myself for some more festivities (and I want to cuddle my presents a little - is that weird?). But before I do, I wanted to fulfill my blogger duties by showing you the outfit I wore yesterday for Christmas Eve (and let's face it, I'll wear it again today, oh, the horror).

I've had some trouble lately finding pretty dresses, until I stumbled in H&M on three all at once (while assuming I wouldn't find any). The flower dress is perfect to wear on an occasion like Christmas, because of the fit: you want eat whatever, without it being too tight. I combined it with some glitter tights and wedges, and added a vest I bought only on Monday (yihaa, pre sales!). The vest was exactly the reason I decided to confront the horrific Christmas crowds in the shopping street, because it suddenly dawned on me I needed a vest with a zipper. But I must say I do not get people doing all their Christmas shopping in the days leading up to Christmas. Why would you do that to yourself? Online present shopping for the win.

Enjoy your day and merry Christmas to all of you!

Jump(er) for Christmas

Aah, those jolly good times are near again. Festive blinking lights, Christmas tunes, and loads of sweets and delicious food. What is not to love, right? (Except too many freakin' people EVERYWHERE - Excuse me, that is my 'In desperate need of some time off of work' desire talking). I've been bumping my Christmas feeling already for weeks. Those who follow me on Instagram might have noticed/gotten annoyed by this already (username: sneilorak). Seriously, is there a better way to submerge in an instant Christmas feeling than by wearing an awesome Christmas jumper?

Yes, getting my hands on a Christmas jumper was one of my already (in)famous quests, and I've been wearing it to bits these past two weeks. Because a) it's Christmassy, b) it has a pinguin on it and c) not just any pinguin, but a CHRISTMAS pinguin. And I have got to get all the wear out of it I possibly can because wearing a Christmas jumper in February or March might just come off as a bit silly. Or rebellous cool. I'm still in doubt.

I cannot wait for it to be Christmas eve and to finally unwrap my presents. I even put a present for myself from myself underneath the tree, because I fancy the unwrapping so much. I deeply apologise for my excitement, apparently I tend to get quite carried away about numerous things. ("It cannot be your 'best time of the year, Karolien, because you already said that was Halloween". Booh.)

HAPPY HOLIDAYS, DEAR READERS!

We Wear: Grey Grey Grey

Coat: New Yorker's - Jumper: Urban Outfitters - Skinnies: H&M - Boots: Steve Madden

I thought it would be appropriate to wear all grey in a time of mourning. Yes, you read that correctly. Those following me on Twitter or Instagram may already know that I had to say goodbye to one of my cats last week. The second one actually, in little more than a year's time. She turned fifteen but decided that was old enough. I'm heartbroken but I know she's having a good time now soaking up the sun and playing with some mice. You take care, my dear lioness!

I bought this jumper last winter at Urban Outfitters. It reflects me being a crazy cat lady in pale pink, so nothing screams "Lies" more than this acrylic friend (unfortunately). The scalloped neckline makes the whole thing a bit more feminine. I say that as if pale pink cats and hearts aren't feminine enough.

The boots make me feel like I'm walking around in Sovjet Russia and sound like there are spurs attached to them. So I'm kind of a lonesome cowgirl in the wild wild Russia. In case you haven't noticed, I like visualising everything. To really make you get the whole thing, you know? Like really get. And I do that because there are a lot of things in the world that I just really don't understand, unable to wrap my head around. So when it comes to fashion and outfits, I want everything to be crystal fucking clear.

I'm also pretty sure I want a new tattoo / multiple new tattoos. Sorry mom, you had to find out one way or another. It might have something to do with some sticky tattoos that ended up on our arms last Friday, but I'm not sure. That same night might also be the culprit for that tired expression that's stuck on my face, however I refuse to acknowledge that. Sleep is overrated anyway. Except on Mondays.

Oh don't forget we're also on Facebook! Check us out and like that shit! (Please?)

I do have another partner in crime, my lonely wanderer called Mylo. She's the only one left, so now it's just her and me against the world. They all seemed alike because they were all black and white, but I assure you I'm talking about three different cats and I'm not schizophrenic.

What We Wear Wednesday: Second life

Lately, I've been drawn to using darker tones in my outfits (as can be seen here). Last Sunday was a major exception: I desperately wanted to wear my powder pink coat and decided to team it up with a white jumper. The main items of this outfit I've had laying around for ages. The Converses date back several years, although I never really worn them that much (I guess I bought them at that point where literally everybody was sporting these, which made me get sick of them). I bought the jumper already more than a year ago in the summer sales, but always tended to avoid wearing it. I have absolutely no idea why, I remember being on the lookout for a white jumper, buying it and ... having it occupying space in my closet.

The coat however... Aaah, the coat. That's a completely different story. Let's jump in our time machine and head back to the winter of 2004-2005. I was 17 years old and after spotting this baby in a store, fell instantly in love. I wore if for two consecutive winters, which is a big deal as I live by the rule "One winter coat a year, keeps the winter blues away". When I was still in high school, I would wear this coat with pink boots and a pink skirt (Guess what my favorite color was!). A year later, all grown up in my first year of university, I'd tone it down a (little) bit, but would still get looks from people frowning upon such a Barbie coat. Nine years later (holy fuck, I'm old), a pink coat is all of a sudden no exception anymore. Things change, people change, life changes and fashion is just plain crazy.

PS: Say "Hi!" to my home town!

Ain't no wifey

I wore this very dark and broody outfit to go to Brussels to celebrate my little sister's birthday a while back. The weather (and especially the lighting) followed those settings, so I apologize for the overall darkness of the pictures. What I do not apologize for however, is this awesome new beanie I have gotten my hands on. Having "Ain't no wifey" printed on the middle of my forehead makes me giggle every time. Those inward chuckles really are the best.

I'm currently on cloud nine, because not only is the holiday season upon us (I'm a sucker for Christmas), but my friend who was travelling for a year has finally returned and her comeback has already been extensively celebrated. On top of that, Sinterklaas came by and apparently I've been a pretty good girl (or I bribed him of course). And for now, if you'll excuse me, I'm about to indulge in some sweets and chocolate brought to me by the good man.

What We Wear Wednesday: Roar

Sweater: TITI + THE GERMAN KID - Skinnies, shirt: H&M - Sneakers: Nike Air Max - Necklace: little market in Porto

I'm the proud owner of this TITI AND THE GERMAN KID sweater since April. I have no idea why it didn't make an appearance on the blog any sooner. I guess I must be crazy.

And because I wrote an entire love story about my Nike Air Max last time, I couldn't but show you guys again. I can happily say that the love is still very much a fact.

I'm pretty satisfied with this outfit starring multiple of my favorite items. I've worn it two days in a row last weekend. I told you I was crazy. We finally went to see the movie "Marina" last Saturday and my mind is still blown. Partly because of Matteo Simoni and his everlasting charm (I'm such a flapper) but mostly because of the whole movie and the story in general. SO JUMP IN YOUR CAR AND GO SEE IT!
