We Discover: AMATØR SS14

I won't deny that Karolien and myself are more the budget type of girls. We're not stingy at all, we just like to buy more for less money. That sounds greedy but we're not that either, I bet you all know what I mean. But I must admit that I can be a bit penny wise but pound foolish, as they say. When I don't have a lot of money to spend, I can really restrain myself from buying stuff I don't really need. But when I'm on no budget at all, I tend to feed the large hole in my hand. Ending up with a lot of stuff I try to sell afterwards at second-hand markets while realising that I truely own too much pink.

We recently found this new Scandinavian / Dutch brand in our mailbox. It doesn't really fit our budgetary boundaries, but I can once again not deny that I loved what I was seeing: minimalistic, clean, leopard, delicate with an edge. It makes me happy to read that Eline Starink designed this collection to also be wearable work clothes. It was only last weekend that I was talking with somebody and discussing how unfortunate it actually is to dress "work appropriate", because that mostly stands for boring and unpersonal items. I say mostly, not always. But I've generally had problems with people telling me how to dress, I just wouldn't listen.

I picked out some of my favorites to show you guys. Please tell me what you think on the subject of "work appropriate" dressing and of course about this pretty brand!

You may say I'm quite fond of the leopard print. Is there really such a thing as too much leopard?

We Wear: Black as the night

Wearing an entire black outfit would have been an unthinkable notion only a few months back, while being a complete fashion faux pas in my book during them wild teenage years. Nowadays, I finally feel comfortable wearing an outfit consisting of only black items. However, I wouldn't be me if there wouldn't be some slightly surprising elements. The combination of leopard and tartan is always a big win, and black attire with different textures can make a monochrome outfit that much more interesting. Add a statement necklace and you're good to go!

Leopard booties: Forever 21 - Coat: Sheinside - Scarf: Zara - Shirt, necklace: H&M - Purse, earrings: Primark

I wore this outfit the past weekend to go to the second-hand market that is Bazaar Bizar, where I managed to score some black glitter booties. If you follow me on Instagram (@sneilorak), you may have noticed my happiness splashing off of the screen.  And I'm sure as many of you will probably agree upon, one just cannot have too many black shoes/boots/sneakers... I can hardly wait to wear these pretties in endless outfits.

TITI + THE GERMAN KID: OH MY GOD

Last Wednesday I already told you that we visited the SS14 Collection Presentation of Titi + The German Kid. We were really looking forward because one: it took place in a monastery, two: we we're also excited to go see the Titi likes Ibe capsule collection in her showroom and three: Koks&Tales would be serving some cocktails. And of course because we also know that Titi herself knows how to throw a party, always is her ever charming self and because we think it's high priority to support local brands.

The monastery was the most awesome location for the show. Karolien was reminiscing on lighting candles there with her grandmother when she was young and while we were sipping gin-tonic we smiled politely at the priests who were still wandering around in the corridor, looking quite as startled at us as we at them. The atmosphere had been set and we got ready to enjoy the show.

Our favorites definitely were the bold prints: I DON'T NEED YOUR FLOWERS, YOU'RE NOT GOING OUT DRESSED LIKE THAT, BEING NICE IS COOL. All things we can relate to or things our mothers once yelled at us (think safety pins through our ears or Venom pants). I don't say our mothers were always wrong. A very fluffy sweater in black and also in white drew our attention as well. I now see Titi called it the "Cloud Sweater". I can totally see why, IT WAS SO FLUFFAAAAAY!

Another collection Titi and also Limburg can be proud of. We're a fan!

We Wear: No Fun

No fun to hang around
Feelin' that same old way
No fun to hang around
Freaked out for another day

Jacket: Zara (very old) - Shirt: My grandmother's - The No Fun Sweater: TITI + THE GERMAN KID - Skinnies: H&M - Sneakers: Footlocker (Nike Air Max) - Sunglasses: Random - Necklace: Forever 21 - Shirt buttons: Birthday present - Watch: Urban Outfitters (Casio)

We went to Titi and the German Kid's SS14 Collection Presentation on Saturday, more on that event will follow soon, but before we went to watch the collection and drink gin-tonic in the monastery we paid a little visit to her showroom. We fell in love with the Titi likes Ibe capsule collection (we already figured that was going to happen) and more particular with the cat and dinosaur sunglasses. I think we tried on all of them! We didn't take one home just yet, but something tells me that will change in the near future. I think Karolien mentioned those sunglasses at least twenty times during that evening alone.

I did bring home this NO FUN sweater. The vibrant red color really appealed to me together with the rock 'n roll Stooges song written all over it. I think it's fascinating how only two words can describe an entire mood or feeling. Of course everybody determines its own meaning but well that's the beauty of it now isn't it. I like the contradiction between the vibrant, happy in-your-face red and the more sad kind of message the song brings. This sweater just laughs at you in your face, I think that's why I had to bring it home. A little mockery never hurt anyone.

Oh and before I forget! Our Facebook Page could use some more loving, so if you like our blog make sure to also like us on Facebook so you don't miss out on any posts or random pictures.

We Wear: Titi + The German Kid

If you live in Belgium (or maybe even anywhere else), you may have heard already about the Hasselt bred brand Titi + The German Kid. Both Lies as yours truly were instant fan: With sweaters and shirts with cool slogans, unique designs and not-your-typical accessories, what's not to love really. I bought the Titi Forever beanie just recently in the sales, but what I'm really eagerly looking forward to is the SS14 collection release this very weekend. 'Oh my God' and 'Titi likes Ibe' already promise to be two VERY interesting collections by the looks of the previews. And with a blogger as a model and a blogger as extremely inspirational muse, nothing can possibly go wrong. We will definitely go check out the new collection this weekend and hopefully bring some goodies home (and keep you in the loop of course)!

Coat: my mom's - Leggings, jumper: New Yorker - Beanie: Titi + The German Kid - Necklace: Forever 21 - Boots: Doc Martens

On a different note, the pictures make it seem like summer is steadily approaching (sorry, the Titi + The German Kid collection has got me dreaming), but nothing could deviate further from reality. Rain, rain, rain these last few days, but at least my new Docs keep my feet high and dry. It took me a while breaking them in, but now they have me walking on clouds.
