We Wear: Blue Vintage

Say hello to my new addiction: headbands. You've seen me wear my red headband to a dozen festivals and all of a sudden I felt the urge to buy more headbands in different colors and patterns. I guess I'm really drawn to that vintagey, sixties look of cute girls in red cars with headbands and big sunglasses. That's also the reason I sometimes buy things just because "it has the right color". What the right color exactly means is a mystery even to me. It mostly turns out to be some kind of minty green, but not all minty greens make the cut. This necklace made the cut. I bought it ages ago at Forever21 without ever wearing it. (That's a lie, I wore it once but wasn't satisfied with my outfit, felt horribly self-conscious and ate some pizza to feel better.) Anyway, I thought the necklace looked really cute paired with my blue cat shirt. And I bought 4 (!) new headbands in a thrift shop and this blue polka dotted one is defs my favorite (together with a leopard one which will turn up in an outfit post rather soon).

My purse is also thrifted, I bought it at a flee market we stumbled upon but then I did spot it again later and I can't remember where. So I'm not quite sure how "secondhand" it really is. The bow made me buy it, I'm a sucker for bows.

I'm not the girl to own a dozen pair of shorts or sunglasses so I'm wearing my same baggy shorts from My mum made it and fav sunglasses ever by Komono. On Instagram I mentioned I got my shirt from Paplou but that is not true. I got it at PooPoo Style (a skate shop in Hasselt) but Paplou also sold it. I got a little confused while posting that picture to Instagram.

This wil also be one of my last outfitposts while rocking my white (red, brown) locks. My hair has been damaged enough and I am slowly going to transition back to being a brunette. Insert sadface. No seriously, I really wished I could keep my white hair forever but it just doesn't seem possible.

What We Wear Wednesday: Radio Modern

So, who else was surprised when they woke up Sunday morning? Or in my case: Sunday afternoon. I got out of Sofie's bed with a slight headache thanks to the night before, only to discover that the SUN was shining. You got that right. No rain pouring down, but actual rays of sunlight were beaming down from the sky. I almost forgot what that looked like, or better: how it felt. After some hangover Chinese food in the sun, I headed home and decided it was the perfect weather to take some outfit pictures.

We went to Radio Modern the night before at the C-mine in Genk. A retro, vintage, Italian inspired party. And although there have been a lot of remarks concerning the decoration - or the lacking of any - we had a great time and shook our asses the whole night long. That's a lie. Only 'till 2 o'clock and then we were being swept out, together with the plastic beer cups, by a not so friendly lady with an even more unfriendly broomstick.

It's of course impossible to go to a retro party without dressing up. Radio Modern screams for polka dots so that's what I wore. I got this dress from ModCloth and I absolutely adore it! It fits beautifully and has the ideal length (maybe not for long-legged Karolien). I love the tender pastel hue it has and teamed it up with some whites. Whites really make my heart beat faster, I don't know why but I always fall head over heels for white accessories. Especially shoes and purses but jewelry will equally do the trick. I'm not trying to give hints for my birthday. It's in December, I'm not thàt crazy. (Although now you DO know it's in December, right?)

What We Wear Wednesday: Sparkly denim for fall

I really love pistachio ice cream and I've recently GOT A JOB! I started on Monday and it's hella exciting. So from now on I'm officially a working girl! I can't WAIT to spend my first paycheck on some lovely new clothes!

Speaking of new clothes, my mom and I went shopping last week: the very last shopping trip that she actually sponsored. It was her gift to me for finding a job. It's then that I found this denim shirt at New Look. Been wanting to own a denim shirt for quite some time now, and when those little sparkly studs started blinking in the corner of my eye, I was sold. And so was the shirt. (Aren't I HILARIOUS.)

One can never have too much bling going on, so I shamelessly combined this lovely shirt with my new H&M necklace. It's black, but don't underestimate its sparkle factor. It's the same necklace which I was talking about HERE. It's very wearable thus easy to combine, instant sparkle for every outfit!

The BF and I went to Leuven last week so I took advantage of the situation and asked him to take my pictures. I usually do it myself with a tripod and self-timer in the garden. So don't mind the silly or angry faces, I was constantly screaming he had to do better. I'm so nice. Thanks love! 

I wore this outfit on our trip to Leuven, to sign my contract at my new job (some bling was in place, please) and to party last Saturday at Z33. I actually never wanted to take it off.

I do think this outfit is less 'cute', so Karolien's mom is proven wrong forever!

What We Wear Wednesday: I own too much pink

I was looking at my wardrobe and I concluded I really own too much pink. I don't call myself a "typical" pink-girl at all, but somehow when I have to choose between pink and something else, I go for pink. So note to self: you have enough pink, start exploring other colors.

But all this pink did came in quite handy today: I tried layers! I suck at layering, or to be more precise: I never really gave it a try. I'm always the one freezing her ass off when we're outside during wintertime because I'm not wearing enough layers of clothes. It wouldn't be the first time that a friend runs to her car to get me an extra sweater (my friends keep sweaters in their car, maybe I should learn from that). Thank you, Ulrike. Although I know you don't read my blabla.

So simple layers for me today: a button-up shirt and a blouse. I like the different shades of pink (I contemplated about 'Fifty shades of pink' for the title) and the very different textures. I normally don't wear belts on blouses, but I grabbed it because it was also pink. And I like the little peplum-effect it creates.

I know my pink Vans would match perfectly with this, but I wanted to concentrate the pink on my upper half. So black booties it is! I've noticed that a lot of people have discovered these beauties at H&M and also use them as an 'everyday' shoe, but I'm still learning to walk on them. Seriously. I also suck at walking in heels or heeled shoes. But I'm getting better! And I like being tall.

The whole pink and blonde hair thing does give me a kawaii-feel. And the bear hat only supports that. It's not the look I was going for, but my upper half has been feeling quite like a Japanese manga girl. Funny thing is that my brother actually lives in Japan. Hi brother!

I've been told that I talk too much (on paper / screen that is), so I'll stop.

What We Wear Wednesday: Job Interview

As I mentioned before, I'm recently graduated and looking for a job. During summer I had my summer job, vacations, festivals and the boyfriend on my mind, but ever since I got back from our surf trip and the boyfriend's back in Ghent, the job hunt is open.

I've been sending out my resume, motivation letter and portfolio to numerous interesting companies and I've been applying to several intriguing job vacancies. The VDAB website has been my best friend the last two weeks. 

And my efforts paid off. I have two job interviews planned for this week! Of course it's important that you make a good first impression. So first of all: dress to impress. I want to show you three outfits that I would wear to a job interview. Please do give me your opinion! I actually wanted to share even more outfits, but I ended up making the same combinations with different pieces of clothing. I found out I don't have that much interview-proof clothes!

Outfit number one: Coco Chanel

 I'm not actually wearing Chanel, but this image of Audrey Tautou in "Coco avant Chanel" inspired me. I love the French look with the navy stripes. It's classy, yet not boring. Yesterday I was searching some online shops for a highwaisted jeans, and today I went and got it at H&M. It's a perfect fit and a slight miracle. Usually I get really annoyed when trying on jeans in the fitting room. I end up miserable and feeling like an obese midget. My brain tends to overreact. Today I took three sizes with me in the fitting room and I had to go back to take an even smaller size. I was so taken aback! Clearly in a good way. These jeans fit me like a glove and it makes me want to erase everything I said about my ZARA jeans. I found my new love: highwaisted jeans. A total recommendation for everyone who has jeans issues!

Outfit number two: Variation

 This is actually a variation of outfit number one. These jeans just work so well with everything and they seem like the perfect pair of interview jeans. I brought in some more color by wearing my neon striped Mango blouse. I could've easily combined my Vans with this outfit, but I wanted something different. I bought these cute ballerina's last year at Carrefour for five euros. Score!

Outfit number three: Saint-Tropez vs job interview

This dress always makes me dream about strolling through the Saint-Tropez harbor, with a big hat and oversized sunglasses. But throw in some tights and a blazer and you can perfectly go to a job interview. Right? I wore this outfit for my internship interview at Boondoggle last year. And well, they hired me.

What We Wear Wednesday: Coral Collar

The title of this post may have deceived you. You were all probably thinking that I was wearing one of these mega-fashionable collars in a coral shade. But instead the total blouse is coral and it happens to have a collar. What can I say: I love alliterations. I could've also said "Coral Chemise" but let's not fool ourselves: collar sounds so much better!

This intro has been totally useless because I just want to show you guys what I was wearing to the presentation of the F/W collection of TTGK last friday. I knew there would be a lot of ultra-fashionable people hanging around there that night and that I wouldn't be able to top them. And it's not a matter of 'topping' anyone, I just felt intimidated before I even got there, so I chose a more basic outfit: black skinny jeans, coral chemise (there you have it) and my black polka dot shoes combined with a thrifted bag that could fit my camera. I left my jacket in the car, it was like a 100 degrees inside the Muziekodroom.

These aren't my Zara skinnies as seen HERE, I bought these at Urban Outfitters about two years ago. And however Urban Outfitters isn't the cheapest store in town, these pants weren't too expensive at all! The black isn't really black anymore though, it seems more like a dark blue now. But they fit so damn perfectly that I can't seem to get rid of them. My shoes are also from UO and I bought them this spring. They were actually overpriced (50 euros YOW), but they were having sales for some reason so I bought them for only 20 euros, SCOOORE!  And only moments later I spotted the most perfect glitter boots at H&M, the same ones as Annebeth is rocking HERE and HERE, but my wallet forbid me to buy them. I listened, but oh hell it will have been the last time! I learned one thing: when it concerns GLITTER, just go for it. In fact, let it be a lesson for all of you!
