We Wear: Blue Vintage

Say hello to my new addiction: headbands. You've seen me wear my red headband to a dozen festivals and all of a sudden I felt the urge to buy more headbands in different colors and patterns. I guess I'm really drawn to that vintagey, sixties look of cute girls in red cars with headbands and big sunglasses. That's also the reason I sometimes buy things just because "it has the right color". What the right color exactly means is a mystery even to me. It mostly turns out to be some kind of minty green, but not all minty greens make the cut. This necklace made the cut. I bought it ages ago at Forever21 without ever wearing it. (That's a lie, I wore it once but wasn't satisfied with my outfit, felt horribly self-conscious and ate some pizza to feel better.) Anyway, I thought the necklace looked really cute paired with my blue cat shirt. And I bought 4 (!) new headbands in a thrift shop and this blue polka dotted one is defs my favorite (together with a leopard one which will turn up in an outfit post rather soon).

My purse is also thrifted, I bought it at a flee market we stumbled upon but then I did spot it again later and I can't remember where. So I'm not quite sure how "secondhand" it really is. The bow made me buy it, I'm a sucker for bows.

I'm not the girl to own a dozen pair of shorts or sunglasses so I'm wearing my same baggy shorts from My mum made it and fav sunglasses ever by Komono. On Instagram I mentioned I got my shirt from Paplou but that is not true. I got it at PooPoo Style (a skate shop in Hasselt) but Paplou also sold it. I got a little confused while posting that picture to Instagram.

This wil also be one of my last outfitposts while rocking my white (red, brown) locks. My hair has been damaged enough and I am slowly going to transition back to being a brunette. Insert sadface. No seriously, I really wished I could keep my white hair forever but it just doesn't seem possible.

What We Wear Wednesday: Sparkly denim for fall

I really love pistachio ice cream and I've recently GOT A JOB! I started on Monday and it's hella exciting. So from now on I'm officially a working girl! I can't WAIT to spend my first paycheck on some lovely new clothes!

Speaking of new clothes, my mom and I went shopping last week: the very last shopping trip that she actually sponsored. It was her gift to me for finding a job. It's then that I found this denim shirt at New Look. Been wanting to own a denim shirt for quite some time now, and when those little sparkly studs started blinking in the corner of my eye, I was sold. And so was the shirt. (Aren't I HILARIOUS.)

One can never have too much bling going on, so I shamelessly combined this lovely shirt with my new H&M necklace. It's black, but don't underestimate its sparkle factor. It's the same necklace which I was talking about HERE. It's very wearable thus easy to combine, instant sparkle for every outfit!

The BF and I went to Leuven last week so I took advantage of the situation and asked him to take my pictures. I usually do it myself with a tripod and self-timer in the garden. So don't mind the silly or angry faces, I was constantly screaming he had to do better. I'm so nice. Thanks love! 

I wore this outfit on our trip to Leuven, to sign my contract at my new job (some bling was in place, please) and to party last Saturday at Z33. I actually never wanted to take it off.

I do think this outfit is less 'cute', so Karolien's mom is proven wrong forever!

Should I cut my bangs?

Labellov - Timeless vintage & luxury secondhand items. 

Sounds promising, doesn't it? So you can imagine I was in seventh heaven when I won the Belmodo Contest and received a double ticket for the opening of the event on Thursday. I was planning on going anyway on Saturday, but nothing beats an opening, right? 

I must say I was a bit naive when I thought I could take home a vintage Chanel bag. Usually when I go to secondhand stores or markets, prices are really low. But of course, when we're talking "timeless" and "luxury" vintage, that ain't the case. So everything I saw was way out of my budget, unfortunately. My friend Sofie and I even worked out an arrangement to buy the cheapest Chanel bag, and use it every other week (or on special occasions), but even that was out of reach. But if I was a working girl, I would definitely save up for something because deep down in my heart I know it's worth it. Melodramatic much?

Except for all the chunky (and sometimes kitsch...but timeless, luxury vintage kitsch) jewelry, there were also CLASSIC CARS. I'm not a car freak at all, but those old-timers got my heart racing. They really don't make cars like that anymore (Karolien and I always say that about boys: They don't make 'em like that anymore! followed by a big sigh), and it's a shame! I like the car I'm driving (a PINK Ford Fiesta), but it doesn't have the same spirit as those beauties I've seen there. And they were kind of affordable, I mean: 21000 euros is not that much more than what you pay for a Mini Cooper for instance. 

I really enjoyed watching people as well. And we met Nathalie from Curls and Bags, who also took our picture to feature on her blog. Don't mind my stupid face, people don't ask me everyday to take my picture. Which reminds me: I have been photographed in Barcelona for some streetstyle blog, two years ago. Totally forgot about it! I never tried to find it, maybe I should search for it now.

OH! We also got our picture taken at the Belmodo corner, so instead of buying expensive bags, we can WIN LE MADAME, by Delvaux! So please vote for us HERE. Thanks! 

One more thing: Sofie and I totally disagreed on the fact that you still have to spend so much on a vintage item. Sofie said that if you had the money, you'd just buy a totally new item instead of a vintage, already worn piece. But I said that the vintage aspect gave it even more value, because it's more rare and it caries the 'soul' of the previous owner. (That's Halloween talking.) So I'm curious: would you guys rather pay up for some vintage items, or just go to the store and buy a totally new piece?

What We Wear Wednesday: Detox modus on

The last few days it's been all about detoxing and going back to - the sometimes annoying - reality. After four great, totally blazing days at the Pukkelpop festival, it's back to work for me while still recuperating from things that generally accompany attendance at a festival: sleep deprivation, alcohol overload and some serious aching muscles from dancing my ass off. God, it sucks! Can't complain too much though, at least work doesn't suck. I just seriously need to detox and sleep a little.

So this is what I wore on one of my first days back at the job. I most definitely wanted something breezy as it has been incredibly hot here (this is not me complaining, I will not ever complain about it being too hot) AND I couldn't just yet let go of the festival look, so short shorts it is! Not the most appropriate thing to wear on the work floor, but hey, the top is quite sophisticated, no? Besides, during the holiday months everything gets to be a little bit more relaxed, at least in my opinion. The whole "Chill, the sun is shining"-attitude, you know.

Both the purse and the earrings are thrifted, I bought the purse via a Facebook group where people can sell clothes and accessories they don't want anymore (Louvintage) and I found the earrings on a very small town flea market. I totally love finding really really cheap things! Only last week I snapped up not one, not two, but THREE jackets and that for 1 euro a piece at Think Twice Leuven. I bought a blazer which very closely resembled one I almost picked up the day before at H&M. I did a giant dance of joy, because I saved a little bit of money and still had the perfect blazer. I also bought a flower jacket and an army jacket (a real one from the Belgian army, I'm so hardcore).

PS: Don't you think the purse looks like a Café Noir biscuit? I do!

PSS: Foo Fighters kick ass, can't stop listening to their songs after seeing them on Saturday.
