Studio Brussel celebrated 40 years Punk this week in analogy to the Sex Pistols' record "Nevermind the bollocks, here's the Sex Pistols" that debuted in 1977. Of course Karolien and I couldn't let this opportunity slip to once again channel our inner punkrock attitude. Well allright, that attitude never is far away but what's more fun than play dress-up, amiright. 

I remember going to school during high-school dressed in a safety pin embellished red tartan skirt with fishnet tights. I can't remember what shoes I wore underneath though but I think (fear) those might have been my pink Converse All Stars. Another favorite combo was a plain black mini skirt with pink and black striped tights and an accordingly striped bardot top. My 17-year self wanted to be the Cheshire cat I suppose. That bardot top was totally not tolerated by the way at our school, so that once resulted in me getting picked out of class by the principal, getting preached at and having to add a gym top underneath.

Funny anecdote: Karolien and I were classmates since the 5th grade in high school but only became friends when we were both in college and went to Pukkelpop together. 

For my punk inspired outfit I time-traveled to 2004, put on some fishnet tights and combined it with my red tartan coat. Because I'm also totally in love with Debbie Harry I added my overknee boots, a quirky t-shirt and a thrifted leopard bandana I used as a shawl.

We Wear: Dream coat

As a true Leopardanian, a leopard coat just could not keep missing in my closet. However, I did not want a furry one (got that already) or a short one, and the color needed to be just right. You understand it was not an easy assignment, but I finally came across the perfect one. The impeccable reincarnation of the classical versus edgy combination. Although I must say I wasn't completely convinced about the color when I clicked it home, it has proven to be every inch my dream coat. And that moment when you finally lay your hands on a much searched for coat, just bliss. Also loving my new kicks and so comfortable!

On a completely different note, on this exact moment I'm hitting the awesome sunny slopes in Val Thorens, yihaa! Have a nice week!

We Wear: Lumberjack

This tartan flannel shirt in the prettiest shade of green is definitely one of my winter wardrobe staples. I seem to be reaching for it on days when everything's off, on days when I'm walking on clouds and everything in between. It is just such a versatile piece and can be used as the basis in endless - very differently styled - outfits. I can already respond affirmative on the possibility of transferring it to my spring attire.

The shoes however are quite a different story. Sure, they have all the necessities to be a real go-to: black, submerged in studs, high-heeled, ankle boots, eye catching in a not so obvious way... Except for one little, tiny, almost irrelevant - but oh so relevant - thing: They kill my feet. Seriously, my feet just started tingling by just looking at the pictures. If anyone has some good advice on how to deal with this, do share! I feel like they mostly hurt because the bottom is so freakin' hard, and I already tried these cushions but no luck whatsoever...

What We Wear Wednesday: Studded boots and fringes

I just realized this is another very black/grey outfit, which is quite weird for me considering I almost always wear some pop of colour. What the heck is going on with me, could it maybe be the winter blues? I actually don't think so, because although I absolutely love spring/summer, winter is not so bad either. This might or might not have to do with me almost leaving on a snowboard trip. But mostly might.

I finally took my latest addition to my shoe closet pile out for a spin. Don't you just loooove them? Lies and I spotted them at Zara in the sales, but I found them too much (I wanted normal gold studs, okay, not those starry things). How wrong was I! When we encountered a girl wearing them a few stores later, we both were sold and this was reflected in a smoldering, craving look towards each other but mostly towards the shoes. I actually imposed myself a non-shopping vow at that time, but trying them on couldn't hurt, right? Of course I couldn't leave the store without them, so BAM! Non-shopping vow shattered to pieces. The rest of the month however I did a très good job in not shopping. It was even fairly easy! Maybe because I have all kinds of trips coming up ahead and I know I have to save up for them. Including my snowboard trip next week, yiha!

Recently I also got myself a new beanie, in case you guys were growing tired of the black one. I'm not, but hey, is an additional beanie EVER a bad idea? Nope.

By the way, I totally love everything with fringes. I'm in fact looking for a leather jacket with fringes, anybody any ideas on where to find it? I've browsed through Ebay a couple of times, but came up empty. Sad face.

What We Wear Wednesday: Leopard coat

My body knows it and my voice certainly knows it: what a busy weekend it was! Even though it's Wednesday, I'm still recuperating from it. With the going away party of one of my dearest friends (sad face) and lots of preparations that needed to be done for the gift, I was and actually still am t to the ired. Seriously, if I were to be an Indian, my name would be Tired Eyes. Or Puffed Face. Or good ol' Yawn Head. However, I did manage to find the time to snap some pictures in my backyard, which is actually not really the backyard as it is the local cemetery. 

Okay, do you notice how I'm tired? Incoherent writing for the win. Or maybe it's just the general blah feeling when I think about my friend that's leaving in less than a week. Anyways, I do have some things to look forward to and that is in the first place my paycheck that'll arrive this week. I have been holding off on buying, well anything actually, because I was saving up to (finally) buy a new cell phone. Remember how my last one fell/dove/flied in the toilet? Well, I have deemed the time appropriate to get me a new one this week! YAY!

The whole saving up also meant not having anything new to wear for the last weeks and I have to be honest, it didn't kill me. I just threw on some 'old' stuff and mostly really loved the result. The main item of today's outfit is of course the fake fur coat, which I've had for a year now. I'm falling for it more and more every time I see it. It is very Cruella de Vil, and although I used to hate her guts growing up, I must say she's a very intriguing character to say the least. And the song always gets stuck in my mind whenever I wear the coat. Classic! But don't worry, my coat isn't made from little puppies.

Do you guys also rediscover your wardrobe when nothing new arrives? (Notice how I say 'arrive', as if my clothes arrive all on their own with a horse and carriage or something) I guess it's good from time to time, not in the very least for my bank account.

What We Wear Wednesday: Sparkly denim for fall

I really love pistachio ice cream and I've recently GOT A JOB! I started on Monday and it's hella exciting. So from now on I'm officially a working girl! I can't WAIT to spend my first paycheck on some lovely new clothes!

Speaking of new clothes, my mom and I went shopping last week: the very last shopping trip that she actually sponsored. It was her gift to me for finding a job. It's then that I found this denim shirt at New Look. Been wanting to own a denim shirt for quite some time now, and when those little sparkly studs started blinking in the corner of my eye, I was sold. And so was the shirt. (Aren't I HILARIOUS.)

One can never have too much bling going on, so I shamelessly combined this lovely shirt with my new H&M necklace. It's black, but don't underestimate its sparkle factor. It's the same necklace which I was talking about HERE. It's very wearable thus easy to combine, instant sparkle for every outfit!

The BF and I went to Leuven last week so I took advantage of the situation and asked him to take my pictures. I usually do it myself with a tripod and self-timer in the garden. So don't mind the silly or angry faces, I was constantly screaming he had to do better. I'm so nice. Thanks love! 

I wore this outfit on our trip to Leuven, to sign my contract at my new job (some bling was in place, please) and to party last Saturday at Z33. I actually never wanted to take it off.

I do think this outfit is less 'cute', so Karolien's mom is proven wrong forever!
