We Wear: Weekend look

Aaah, take me back to a time, not so long ago, where I could venture outside without looking like a pile of clothes. A time like when these pictures were taken for instance! Now, we're in deep winter temperatures which make me pull out of my blanket-like clothes. If there would be something like a face beanie, I'd wear the shit out of it!

Unfortunately, freezing winter temperatures will stick with us for a while still. So for now, all there's to do is waiting for temperatures to increase again a little bit so this casual weekend look can be mine again. Even more so on weekends, I always seem to reach to comfy sneakers combined with (even more) oversized shirts and blouses. And the millions of booties I got in my dressing are crying because they feel unappreciated and unworn... Winter time got me in a rut. If it's not gonna snow anytime soon - 'cause snow is pretty and makes me happy- blanket outfits will make their entrance on the blog. I apologize in advance.

We Wear: Floral dress, leopard coat

I'm wearing:
Beanie: H&M (lost two days later, why does this always happen)
Scarf, dress: Zara
Sweater: Paplou
Glitter chelsea boots: Ma&Lo via La Bottega
Socks: Veritas
Duffle Bag: New Look via Zalando

So you know what is exhausting? MOVING! Lorenz and I finally moved to Hasselt and it's great but it's safe to say it has been quite the hassle. You know what else is exhausting... Christmas related staff parties where you have too much cava to drink because you don't have to drive because you can walk home. Thanks colleagues for the massive hangover the day after.

These pictures already date from a while back, when we weren't living in the city yet. I've had trouble styling this dress before but I now found a sweater-dress combination that I like. I'm also very much digging the clashing patterns with the leopard and the floral. Things don't always have to make sense, right? Sometimes you just like get up in the act and do 'em.

It is no secret to nobody that I love glitter. I wear glitter on a daily basis and it is most definitely a basic in my book. These glitter chelsea boots are one of the perks of working at a shoe / concept store. I love them to death. Random anecdote: only yesterday I was trying on some mile high skinny jeans at the Levi's Store combined with these glitter chelsea boots and a random customer gave me a compliment I looked fabulous. THANK YOU STRANGER!

We Wear: 40 year punk music

(Lies)
Coat, overknee boots: SheInside
Faux suede mini skirt: H&M
Fishnet tights: Veritas
Leopard bandana used as shawl: (thrifted) Kringloopwinkel
Purse: My grandma's

(Karolien)
Coat, jeans backpack, shoes, jeans pinafore dress: Primark
Scarf: Zara
Shirt: SheInside
Socks: Topshop
Beanie, polka dot tights: Unknown
Necklace: H&M (old)

Studio Brussel celebrated 40 years Punk this week in analogy to the Sex Pistols' record "Nevermind the bollocks, here's the Sex Pistols" that debuted in 1977. Of course Karolien and I couldn't let this opportunity slip to once again channel our inner punkrock attitude. Well allright, that attitude never is far away but what's more fun than play dress-up, amiright.

I remember going to school during high-school dressed in a safety pin embellished red tartan skirt with fishnet tights. I can't remember what shoes I wore underneath though but I think (fear) those might have been my pink Converse All Stars. Another favorite combo was a plain black mini skirt with pink and black striped tights and an accordingly striped bardot top. My 17-year self wanted to be the Cheshire cat I suppose. That bardot top was totally not tolerated by the way at our school, so that once resulted in me getting picked out of class by the principal, getting preached at and having to add a gym top underneath.

Funny anecdote: Karolien and I were classmates since the 5th grade in high school but only became friends when we were both in college and went to Pukkelpop together.

For my punk inspired outfit I time-traveled to 2004, put on some fishnet tights and combined it with my red tartan coat. Because I'm also totally in love with Debbie Harry I added my overknee boots, a quirky t-shirt and a thrifted leopard bandana I used as a shawl.

We Wear: Silver linings

What to do when the holidays are far behind you and you still haven't worn that one dress you bought for New Year's Eve before deciding to go for something completely else? I can't be the only one, right? And with spring so close we can almost touch it - I'm an optimist - I decided now was as good a time as any to break the dress out of my closet. The outfit I threw on on a whim actually surprised be as I couldn't stop twirling and loved every aspect of it. And that my dear friends is the silver lining you should always look for, even when life - or people - kicks you right to the teeth and even when you don't believe it yourself . "Fake it 'till you make it" is not that bad an advice, even though some horrible TV reality show person here in Belgium (ding ding ding, Temptation Island alert) may have ruined it for me for an eternity to come.

PS: I have to say though, in real life, it's way more sparkly and silver than it is in these pictures...

We wear: Fringes

It's the end of February and my mind is more concerned with short shorts, pastel everything and bare legs than with the actual (read: lousy) weather forecasts. Momma don't wanna wear no black anymore. Sorry, those are lies, momma - I have no idea why I'm referring to myself as momma, so unfitting - loves black outfits, even in the midst of summer. You get what I mean though, SS16 collections are popping up and I'm just sick of winter all of a sudden. Especially since having a look at the new collection at SKIM, which we will tell you all about this weekend! I will miss wearing my long black duster coat though, elegant yet a touch of a homeless vibe, the most perfect combination ever. What will also be missed are beanies, especially on bad hair days or just windy days in general. However, since my favorite beanie got stolen this week, I really think it's time for spring to arrive. The coat and beanies are the only things I'll miss when spring hits us, I promise.

So, where you at, sunshine?

We Wear: Sweater weather

You may remember me going on and on about my new brand crush Batoko so it shouldn't come as a surprise my wish list actually inspired me to add some new Batoko garments to my wardrobe (addict alert right hurrr). Especially the sweater has been bringing a lot of happiness, which might have mostly to do with the fact that the other item I bought was a crop top and buying a crop top in winter tends to unequivocally lead to delayed gratification with respect to actually wearing it. Who knew, right?! Sweaters like these make winter just slightly more bearable seeing as getting up in the morning and promptly removing your pajamas is already enough a challenge, even when your not necessarily a morning hater.

When I leave home early in the morning to bike to the train station, I'm also very grateful for my blanket coat, in which I can cuddle up to face the cold. Because, yes, whereas I was still bare ankled in this outfit, the past week that has been a big no-no in my book. I honestly wouldn't survive and I feel that is the case for the majority of people. Unless apparently you're a teenager, because while closely observing 14 to 16 year-olds, I realized they must wear tiny heaters in their tiny jackets and are in fact wearing skin like socks to cover their ankles. That truly is the only explanation I can think of.

We Wear: Pug life

Yes, I am well aware that this outfit may be slightly mismatched with the current weather. I do have a good reason to post it nonetheless: There's a pug on my beanie. Period. Look at the pug!

This will however - fingers crossed - be the last time I'm wearing the good old winter coat + beanie combination on the blog, I promise. What you will be seeing plenty more of are my new Nikes. It happened, I caved once again. Before buying my first pair of Nikes last year, discounting the ones I used to have to exercise at primary school, I could have never imagined the fascination and comfort they bring. Hi, my name is Karolien and I'm an addict. I was in tremendous doubt about buying another pair, but after browsing Pinterest and writing a blog post about the white sneaker trend, I fell in love. And I have been falling ever since. These are hands down and by far the most comfortable, easy going, versatile sneakers I own. I have already some outfits shots ready to show them off on the blog. You will probably get sick of seeing them, for which I apologize in advance.

System of a Down (Yes, I have tickets to go see them tomorrow!)
Currently craving for (fashion wise or other):
A spring cleaning. If only I had the time.
