We Wear: Weekend look

Aaah, take me back to a time, not so long ago, where I could venture outside without looking like a pile of clothes. A time like when these pictures were taken for instance! Now, we're in deep winter temperatures which make me pull out of my blanket-like clothes. If there would be something like a face beanie, I'd wear the shit out of it!

Unfortunately, freezing winter temperatures will stick with us for a while still. So for now, all there's to do is waiting for temperatures to increase again a little bit so this casual weekend look can be mine again. Even more so on weekends, I always seem to reach to comfy sneakers combined with (even more) oversized shirts and blouses. And the millions of booties I got in my dressing are crying because they feel unappreciated and unworn... Winter time got me in a rut. If it's not gonna snow anytime soon - 'cause snow is pretty and makes me happy- blanket outfits will make their entrance on the blog. I apologize in advance.

We Wear: Try Out-Fit with a slight shimmer

Looking back at these pictures, I think I better first had (a couple of shots of) coffee to make up for the bags under my eyes. Thank God I threw in some distraction in the form of the very obvious bow tie (digging up Halloween stuff does wonders for your wardrobe) and the coat with a slight shimmer. The coat was one of the treasures I found at SKM when I went to try out their new Try Out-Fit tool - see what I did there. The idea behind the tool is simple yet elegant. When you're short in time, or  not very proficient at putting together an outfit, or you're just really curious, you can use the tool on the SKM website. Just indicate your style, your favorite brands, what exactly you're looking for and of course your clothing sizes, think about a moment you can head down to SKM and make the appointment, all in a few mouse clicks. When you get to the store, you can very quickly try out a few outfits the stylists composed just for you. The result is taking home a gorgeous coat like exhibit A. I have to say I was really curious about whether they would hit my style just right, but I can say it was a perfect match! The complete outfit was made for me, from head to (very gorgeous) shoes.

It was a really fun experience and I'm definitely heading back (soon!) to check out the winter collection at SKM. With the mix of all kinds of brands (Supertrash! Zoe Karssen!), it's impossible not to find anything to wear for the upcoming holidays.

We Wear: All that glitters

I bought this golden skirt for the occasion of a wedding, but it proved to be a go-to skirt for many different occasions as well. Like the day after a party - hence, the curly party left-overs and glasses for tired eyes - in combination with a boyfriend shirt (literally). Perhaps all that glitters is not gold, but all that glitters does seem to find its way to my heart aka closet. It's gotten to the point where I have to tell myself that I do not need another golden/silver/glitter skirt/blouse/jacket. Or maybe I do, because I'm secretly a mermaid that loves shiny stuff. Or a magpie.

Speaking of mermaids and smooth transitions, I had so much fun at a local party a few weekends ago where in fact I transformed to my truest of all forms: the mermaid. I'm obviously OD'ing on Once Upon a Time and thinking in fairy tale terms ALL THE TIME. Sorry!

We Wear: 40 year punk music

(Lies)
Coat, overknee boots: SheInside
Faux suede mini skirt: H&M
Fishnet tights: Veritas
Leopard bandana used as shawl: (thrifted) Kringloopwinkel
Purse: My grandma's

(Karolien)
Coat, jeans backpack, shoes, jeans pinafore dress: Primark
Scarf: Zara
Shirt: SheInside
Socks: Topshop
Beanie, polka dot tights: Unknown
Necklace: H&M (old)

Studio Brussel celebrated 40 years Punk this week in analogy to the Sex Pistols' record "Nevermind the bollocks, here's the Sex Pistols" that debuted in 1977. Of course Karolien and I couldn't let this opportunity slip to once again channel our inner punkrock attitude. Well allright, that attitude never is far away but what's more fun than play dress-up, amiright.

I remember going to school during high-school dressed in a safety pin embellished red tartan skirt with fishnet tights. I can't remember what shoes I wore underneath though but I think (fear) those might have been my pink Converse All Stars. Another favorite combo was a plain black mini skirt with pink and black striped tights and an accordingly striped bardot top. My 17-year self wanted to be the Cheshire cat I suppose. That bardot top was totally not tolerated by the way at our school, so that once resulted in me getting picked out of class by the principal, getting preached at and having to add a gym top underneath.

Funny anecdote: Karolien and I were classmates since the 5th grade in high school but only became friends when we were both in college and went to Pukkelpop together.

For my punk inspired outfit I time-traveled to 2004, put on some fishnet tights and combined it with my red tartan coat. Because I'm also totally in love with Debbie Harry I added my overknee boots, a quirky t-shirt and a thrifted leopard bandana I used as a shawl.

We Wear: Harley Quinn is my alter ego

Those who know me or have been following us through the years know that Halloween for me is like the holy cradle of costume parties. I usually come up with a costume idea months in advance and they have been increasing in difficulty and effort with the years that passed. This year was no different in the sense that in August it was clear for me that I would be Harley Quinn for Halloween. Hell, I'm Harley Quinn in real life - attitude wise that is, I usually do wear pants when I go out. Because Harley and me seem to share the same fashion 'sense', it wasn't difficult nor required a lot of effort for me to dress up as her which was quite a relief. The hair? Been there, done that, rocking the blue/pink combo. Choker? Love it to death. Short shorts, yes puleaase! With what I have hanging in my closet, I could dress up as Harley for a week, each day changing outfits. Not even kidding.

I know, I know, you probably already saw a glimpse in our previous post. But well, my make-up was all smeared at that point and I look like a drunk retard (wasn't even drunk!). Guess I was channeling my inner Harley Quinn a little too much. Thanks Lies for posting those glorious pictures.

We Wear: Indian Summer

Yes, summer finally hit us somewhere in August, followed by a lovely Indian summer that unfortunately slowly appears to be coming to an end. That immediately explains the silence - dead silence - up here on the blog. But while Lies is still enjoying her time in Japan, I am more than ready to kick it up a notch again! Although I really love summer in all its aspects, I have to say that I feel like fashion inspiration in summer doesn't really come around the corner that often. Or maybe that has mostly to do with the heat waves that hit us the past couple of months. On days like that I can only think about easy, breezy, simple outfits, which is more of the same thing each and every time. Not very interesting to look at. So although I absolutely hate summer coming to an end - Cali girl right here - I'm an optimist trying to find joys in the biggest tragedies and that tragedy right now is fall. Winter. Cold. The good part? Cool, interesting outfits, yihaa!

But until that moment, let's just enjoy the last few days of gorgeous weather in outfits like these.

We Wear: Pastel overload

Aahh, summertime and the living's easy. That's for sure the case when on a holiday in a beautiful city like Seville, Spain. And when it all comes together so nicely - when the houses and doors are a match made in heaven - the living just gets awesome. This skirt is such an old thing, but I keep it hanging in my closet since every year I reach for it at least a few times. This time I opted to edge up the style just a little by adding some bling and contrasting it with a black crop top. Sometimes you wanna be the sugarcoat cute girl, whereas on other occasions,  you wanna be a badass. And that, my dear friends, is a little thing called life.

Our trip to Seville is already more than a month ago, but I still reminiscence about this stunning city. Definitely a recommendation if you're on the hunt for a city trip. I'm by the way so addicted: I just typed the previous sentence and with the word 'hunt', my mind strayed to lunch time at work aka Pokémon Go time! Yep, yours truly is also a fan, same as the rest of the world!

PS: Those two cuties (or should I say weirdos) in the bottom pictures are my mom and my little sister.  Eternal love and sunshine for them. And with that very hippie-esque quote, I'm out.
