We Wear: Indian Summer

Yes, summer finally hit us somewhere in August, followed by a lovely Indian summer that unfortunately slowly appears to be coming to an end. That immediately explains the silence - dead silence - up here on the blog. But while Lies is still enjoying her time in Japan, I am more than ready to kick it up a notch again! Although I really love summer in all its aspects, I have to say that I feel like fashion inspiration in summer doesn't really come around the corner that often. Or maybe that has mostly to do with the heat waves that hit us the past couple of months. On days like that I can only think about easy, breezy, simple outfits, which is more of the same thing each and every time. Not very interesting to look at. So although I absolutely hate summer coming to an end - Cali girl right here - I'm an optimist trying to find joys in the biggest tragedies and that tragedy right now is fall. Winter. Cold. The good part? Cool, interesting outfits, yihaa!

But until that moment, let's just enjoy the last few days of gorgeous weather in outfits like these. 

We Wear: Holiday haze

I have a confession to make: The past weeks I let  the blog entirely up to Lies as you may have noticed. But for good reason though, as I enjoyed an awesome - and if I say so myself well-deserved - holiday in the environment of Lisbon in Portugal. The first week was all about the beach and surfing, while the last days were spent city tripping in Lisbon itself. A perfect holiday and ever so timely right after the defense of my doctoral dissertation. 

However, as my outfit the first week solely consisted of denim cut-offs or a wetsuit (the latter I will not ever publish on the blog for your sake), I seem to be lacking in the outfit department. I did manage to shoot two outfits while on a holiday, which are combined in today's post because - in hindsight - they are variants to the exact same theme: black and white monochrome, also known as effortlessly cool.

PS: I think I should live nearby the ocean, it calms me down so massively. I've been feeling so relaxed ever since spending time in Lisbon. However, as reality comes creeping in (more like banging on the door), I feel my stress levels slowly rising. MUSTKEEPCALM! Another reason for living near the shore: my hair started doing this weird curly thing. For a girl who spent most of her teen years furiously obtaining wavy, curly hair, this is a milestone indeed.

A new winter coat 

We Wear: Black as the night

Wearing an entire black outfit would have been an unthinkable notion only a few months back, while being a complete fashion faux pas in my book during them wild teenage years. Nowadays, I finally feel comfortable wearing an outfit consisting of only black items. However, I wouldn't be me if there wouldn't be some slightly surprising elements. The combination of leopard and tartan is always a big win, and black attire with different textures can make a monochrome outfit that much more interesting. Add a statement necklace and you're good to go!

I wore this outfit the past weekend to go to the second-hand market that is Bazaar Bizar, where I managed to score some black glitter booties. If you follow me on Instagram (@sneilorak), you may have noticed my happiness splashing off of the screen.  And I'm sure as many of you will probably agree upon, one just cannot have too many black shoes/boots/sneakers... I can hardly wait to wear these pretties in endless outfits.

What We Wear Wednesday: Splash of neon

When you guys are reading this, I will have returned home from an AWESOME trip to Barcelona with my awesome little sister. At this moment however, I'm still in Barcelona, dead tired from our last day in this great city (shopping! sight-seeing! people spotting! laughing! sangria!) . I don't think I need to spell out how not talkative I'm feeling at the moment - and yes, that's a first.

These pictures were taken a few weeks back (I think, but my brain is letting me down all of a sudden) by my - again - awesome little sister. I wanted to wear a monochrome black and white outfit, but couldn't resist spicing things up a little bit  by adding a few touches of neon yellow. In my opinion, neon is a win for wearing on sunny autumn days, although I think that the current weather in Belgium is far from that. That being said, I'm slowly getting into fall mood, as I've just enjoyed the last few days of summer here in Barcelona. The new clothes I bought here may have something to do with that.
