We Want: Fallsentials!

It's been only a few days since I was frolicking around in my bikini at the Paalse Plas, but the weather has made a serious U-turn temperature-wise and I can't say I hate it. By the end of summer I always catch myself looking forward to fall and it's gloomy, misty mornings. Adding layers to your outfit, hiding in a scarf, sipping hot choco and all of this with the slowly fading remains of your summer tan. Yes, I like it.

So here's a little fall moodboard. I recently bought similar dungarees at H&M (couldn't find it online though) and they are the softest thing I have ever worn in my life. They also fulfill my desire to own a perfect pair of boyfriend jeans as they have a loose, cropped fit. And I wasn't even planning on buying dungarees, but that's how my shopping works mostly. I'm the exact opposite of Karolien for that matter ;) I will be wearing said dungarees and a similar outfit to the Bruisfestival this Friday in Maastricht, so I'll make sure to snap some outfit pictures and make a decent post out of it. You should all head to Maastricht by the way, it's a free festival and Echo and the Bunnymen will be playing!

What We Wear Wednesday: Pink (again), white

Before I even say anything, let me apologize for my bad hair day and my tired face. Well, my bad 'head' day in general, so it seems. These pictures were taken on Sunday, after a long weekend of taking photographs of pudding (seriously), going out and building up a lack of sleep. And the weather was so awfully grey and drizzly, which just happens to bring out my puffy eyes. Thanks, stupid Sunday.

Friday night has been really fun au contraire: I went to have dinner with my parents and boyfriend as an early birthday dinner (I'll be turning 25 in exactly eleven days, and I like to remind people of that blissful event that is my birthday during the ENTIRE month of December). And seems my strategy works because my mom already surprised me with a gift! She bought me perfume, Chanel n°5 to be precise! My first 'grown-up' perfume! I've been using some coconut eau de toilette from Yves Rocher since I was fourteen. True story. Still love it, though, but the time was right for a scent that doesn't constantly remind me of Bounty candy bars or a camp organised by the CM, located in Espalion back in 2002.

To defy the ugly weather, I wore my pink Zara pants. Unfortunately the pink is already fading. I bought them only last spring! Any tips on fixating the color? They have already gotten their vinegar bath before I washed them for the first time. They fit so damn fine and the color is was perfect!

It may seem that I wear my hair in a bun a lot, but actually that's not true. I usually have a high ponytail, but for some reason I end up making a bun when taking outfit pictures. Random fact!

Labellov - Timeless vintage & luxury secondhand items. 

Sounds promising, doesn't it? So you can imagine I was in seventh heaven when I won the Belmodo Contest and received a double ticket for the opening of the event on Thursday. I was planning on going anyway on Saturday, but nothing beats an opening, right? 

I must say I was a bit naive when I thought I could take home a vintage Chanel bag. Usually when I go to secondhand stores or markets, prices are really low. But of course, when we're talking "timeless" and "luxury" vintage, that ain't the case. So everything I saw was way out of my budget, unfortunately. My friend Sofie and I even worked out an arrangement to buy the cheapest Chanel bag, and use it every other week (or on special occasions), but even that was out of reach. But if I was a working girl, I would definitely save up for something because deep down in my heart I know it's worth it. Melodramatic much?

Except for all the chunky (and sometimes kitsch...but timeless, luxury vintage kitsch) jewelry, there were also CLASSIC CARS. I'm not a car freak at all, but those old-timers got my heart racing. They really don't make cars like that anymore (Karolien and I always say that about boys: They don't make 'em like that anymore! followed by a big sigh), and it's a shame! I like the car I'm driving (a PINK Ford Fiesta), but it doesn't have the same spirit as those beauties I've seen there. And they were kind of affordable, I mean: 21000 euros is not that much more than what you pay for a Mini Cooper for instance. 

I really enjoyed watching people as well. And we met Nathalie from Curls and Bags, who also took our picture to feature on her blog. Don't mind my stupid face, people don't ask me everyday to take my picture. Which reminds me: I have been photographed in Barcelona for some streetstyle blog, two years ago. Totally forgot about it! I never tried to find it, maybe I should search for it now.

OH! We also got our picture taken at the Belmodo corner, so instead of buying expensive bags, we can WIN LE MADAME, by Delvaux! So please vote for us HERE. Thanks! 

One more thing: Sofie and I totally disagreed on the fact that you still have to spend so much on a vintage item. Sofie said that if you had the money, you'd just buy a totally new item instead of a vintage, already worn piece. But I said that the vintage aspect gave it even more value, because it's more rare and it caries the 'soul' of the previous owner. (That's Halloween talking.) So I'm curious: would you guys rather pay up for some vintage items, or just go to the store and buy a totally new piece?

What We Wear Wednesday: Job Interview

As I mentioned before, I'm recently graduated and looking for a job. During summer I had my summer job, vacations, festivals and the boyfriend on my mind, but ever since I got back from our surf trip and the boyfriend's back in Ghent, the job hunt is open.

I've been sending out my resume, motivation letter and portfolio to numerous interesting companies and I've been applying to several intriguing job vacancies. The VDAB website has been my best friend the last two weeks. 

And my efforts paid off. I have two job interviews planned for this week! Of course it's important that you make a good first impression. So first of all: dress to impress. I want to show you three outfits that I would wear to a job interview. Please do give me your opinion! I actually wanted to share even more outfits, but I ended up making the same combinations with different pieces of clothing. I found out I don't have that much interview-proof clothes!

Outfit number one: Coco Chanel

 I'm not actually wearing Chanel, but this image of Audrey Tautou in "Coco avant Chanel" inspired me. I love the French look with the navy stripes. It's classy, yet not boring. Yesterday I was searching some online shops for a highwaisted jeans, and today I went and got it at H&M. It's a perfect fit and a slight miracle. Usually I get really annoyed when trying on jeans in the fitting room. I end up miserable and feeling like an obese midget. My brain tends to overreact. Today I took three sizes with me in the fitting room and I had to go back to take an even smaller size. I was so taken aback! Clearly in a good way. These jeans fit me like a glove and it makes me want to erase everything I said about my ZARA jeans. I found my new love: highwaisted jeans. A total recommendation for everyone who has jeans issues!

Outfit number two: Variation

Blazer, jeans: H&M - Blouse: Mango - Shoes: Carrefour (true story) - Bag: Forever 21

 This is actually a variation of outfit number one. These jeans just work so well with everything and they seem like the perfect pair of interview jeans. I brought in some more color by wearing my neon striped Mango blouse. I could've easily combined my Vans with this outfit, but I wanted something different. I bought these cute ballerina's last year at Carrefour for five euros. Score!

Outfit number three: Saint-Tropez vs job interview

This dress always makes me dream about strolling through the Saint-Tropez harbor, with a big hat and oversized sunglasses. But throw in some tights and a blazer and you can perfectly go to a job interview. Right? I wore this outfit for my internship interview at Boondoggle last year. And well, they hired me.

KPM Cup

By stating you're not going to complain about the weather, you're actually already doing it. But the past few days have been a little bit better. The sun came out, and it's finally warm enough to stay outside 'till a decent hour. Well ok, that's not entirely true. You'll still freeze your ass off, but it's bearable.

We decided to enjoy this lovely weather, because for all we know it can be over in a blink of the eye. So last Thursday we headed towards the KPM Cup at the Kapermolenpark in Hasselt. Mostly to enjoy the weather, the music, the boys in Vans and on skateboards and to have a beer. But also to spot some interesting people, fashionwise.

And so we ran into Joyce from Mol. Although her cardigan is Chanel-esque, she really fits in "the scene" with that legging and her "sloefkes", as I like to call it. I love the simplicity of the outfit and how it still looks absolutely fabulous. And the collar is adorable!

It had been a really fun afternoon / evening. We sat at the skatepark 'till ten o'clock and felt like fifteen year old skatergirls. Anyone else who was there and thought it was great? Feel free to leave a comment and tell us about your day!
