We Wear: The Roaring Twenties

Yes, we've been completely MIA the past weeks. But we have some very good excuses though! First, there was the soaking, rainy, muddy party that was Groezrock, where we unfortunately couldn't really take pictures of our 'outfits' as these mostly consisted of a rain coat. For some among us, even the rain coat was covered in mud caused by a bad balance in the moshpit (not pointing any fingers, but it wasn't this Peach). Safe to say not really outfit worthy, although I do believe it would create quite a few laughs. Nonetheless, Groezrock was - as it is each and every year - a tremendous amount of fun. Let's pray for some summer weather next year so we can break out the denim shorts and crop tops to give you some early festival vibes.

Our next excuse has to do with the past weekend and is mostly my excuse: It was my birthday last Thursday, so with the extended weekend, party mode was more than on. I started my birthweekend celebrations on Thursday and only ended Sunday in the late afternoon. This way I want to thank everybody contributing to it and meeting my every need and want (God knows, I can be one demanding birthday girl). It was the best birthday ever! It'd better be, since it's the last one that I'm celebrating. Ever.

And what a celebration it was, especially the Roaring Twenties Party I organized. Every excuse to break out my tutu is a good one (and I accidentally bought another one this weekend..). All my friends showed up in perfect gear, so of course I had to snap some shots to give you a glimpse of their awesomeness. And the outfits naturally, never forget the outfits.

The lil' sis

The group (I convinced them to dress up by stating beforehand that they wouldn't get any drinks if they didn't participate. Score!)

Sisters!

I love them retards!

Birthday recap: the presents!

First of all: one big THANK YOU for all the lovely birthday wishes and a GIANT THANK YOU for all the lovely presents that I got this year. They sure made up for the pitiful amount of sushi we've got at Oishii on my birthday! Really, shame on you Oishii, we paid 25 euros each and only got ten, maybe eleven pieces of sushi per person. We were still hungry when we left! I'm not the one to complain easily and I'm actually very easy-going, but don't expect to see me again.

Curious what my lovely friends (and parents) got for my birthday? See for yourself! (Some things I bought for myself, can you guess what?)

B-day Wishlist 2013

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME!

I'll be spending my birthday shopping, eating sushi and sipping cava with the best of friends. The way it should be. And because one cannot go shopping without a proper birthday wishlist, I assembled one of my own. Nothing too special, just some basics and chunky earrings. I'm a sucker for chunky earrings. And apparently also for floral patterns. A leather biker jacket has been on my list for a while now. Since my favorite leather jacket got ripped on Groezrock it is in desperate need of a replacement.

I've been saying I want a Casio watch for about a year now. It started with the golden version but then everybody got it and I liked the silver ones better. Until I came across this pink beauty! I need to get my hands on one of those asap.

Now I'm off to have a jolly good time!

What We Wear Wednesday: Birthday blossoms

Already more than a week ago, it was my birthday (or actually more birthweek) and although I'm not one to be quite happy to be aging, I'm always in for a party/celebration! I was more than thrilled that the sun was showing her lovely face on my birthday and was determined to snap pictures surrounded by blossoms. Only problem there was that I was quite picky concerning this specific blossomy background of the pictures. First of all, I wanted pink blossoms, preferably magnolias. Secondly, I wanted to practically drown in the blossoms and not just stand awkwardly in front of just one tree. Not an easy assignment, I tell ya.

In the end, I gave up on my pink idea of perfection (although I was just so damn sure it would look great with my powder pink dress) and settled for white blossoms. And I have to admit, it looks pretty damn good as well! This reminds me that I sometimes have to let go of some weird, absurd idea of perfection that starts to root in my head and instead just be happy with what I do have. I'm saying absurd idea of perfection, because most things that pop up in my head as significant or as meaningful probably don't mean a whole lot for other people. And that works the other way around as well (for instance, I couldn't care less if my home isn't perfectly clean, as long as it feels like my home).

A pretty mainstream dress (although very short, but blame the designers who do not seem to think about tall people when putting together those very tiny dresses) spiced up with some interesting details: sometimes that's all you need.

B-day Wishlist

My trashcan is still overflowing with Christmas wrapping paper, yet still I'm talking presents again. I have very good reason to, because Sunday it's my birthday! Yay! To celebrate, I'm going shopping in Antwerp on Saturday with some of my friends. And unlike all of the other times I go shopping, this time I want to go prepared. Forewarned is forearmed.

First of all I want a new dress. In contrast with Karolien, I WILL dress up for New Year's Eve. Although I do also believe the whole thing is overrated. But well, any excuse to dress up is a good one.

1: River Island
2: New Look
3-5: Mango

On the list for a while now: glitter shoes!

1: Zara
2-3: Asos (bummer I can't shop Asos in Antwerp)
4: New Look

I like some good (g)old accessories, I found all of these at Urban Outfitters. The Diana camera is on my wishlist for quite some time now, I love it in that minty color! And because I'm a crazy cat lady, that iPhone case and I are meant to be.

And last but not least :an outfit I quickly put together. Actually I'd love to wear this even more than the dresses I found above! Paired with some sheer tights and glitter boots, of course.

1-2: Mango
3: Urban Outfitters
All the accessories on the right are from H&M.

Do tell me what you think!

My boyfriend's little sister got robbed today in Antwerp, so I'll better be careful. Her purse, that she got as a Christmas present, got stolen while she was sitting on the stairs at the station. Some stranger asked for directions and moments later everything was gone. Including her Christmas money that she - unfortunately - hadn't spent yet. Shame on you, thief!

What We Wear Wednesday: Pink (again), white

Before I even say anything, let me apologize for my bad hair day and my tired face. Well, my bad 'head' day in general, so it seems. These pictures were taken on Sunday, after a long weekend of taking photographs of pudding (seriously), going out and building up a lack of sleep. And the weather was so awfully grey and drizzly, which just happens to bring out my puffy eyes. Thanks, stupid Sunday.

Friday night has been really fun au contraire: I went to have dinner with my parents and boyfriend as an early birthday dinner (I'll be turning 25 in exactly eleven days, and I like to remind people of that blissful event that is my birthday during the ENTIRE month of December). And seems my strategy works because my mom already surprised me with a gift! She bought me perfume, Chanel n°5 to be precise! My first 'grown-up' perfume! I've been using some coconut eau de toilette from Yves Rocher since I was fourteen. True story. Still love it, though, but the time was right for a scent that doesn't constantly remind me of Bounty candy bars or a camp organised by the CM, located in Espalion back in 2002.

To defy the ugly weather, I wore my pink Zara pants. Unfortunately the pink is already fading. I bought them only last spring! Any tips on fixating the color? They have already gotten their vinegar bath before I washed them for the first time. They fit so damn fine and the color is was perfect!

It may seem that I wear my hair in a bun a lot, but actually that's not true. I usually have a high ponytail, but for some reason I end up making a bun when taking outfit pictures. Random fact!

What We Wear Wednesday

It's that time of the week again: time for an outfit post! Only recently I bought this mint green dress at H&M. I fell for the color and the open back, it makes a dress instant sexy! I already slipped it on for my friend's birthday bash, but then I had to wear it with panties because my legs were SO white, they would scare people away. It also was a bit chilly.

And it's not chilly anymore, oh hell no! So I threw those panties in the most far corner of my room and wore my pretty dress barelegged. This dress is very 'wooshy', which makes it perfect for hot summer days. It really catches the wind and cools down your body. I wore it to attend the Stiletto Run in Hasselt last weekend (which we will talk about later this week),  and I did manage to maintain a normal body temperature. All thanks to my dress!

Dress, flats, bracelet: H&M - belt: Pimkie - bag: c&a (my mom's) - nailpolish (hands): Catrice (Salmon and Garfunkel) - earrings: Pieces

I'm also very much in love with the green-pink combo. I always have. In highschool I used to mark my notes with green and pink. Or sometimes green and orange. Useless fact: check!

What We Wear Wednesday

Today I'd like to tell you about a little something we will initiate today and what will (hopefully, if time is on our hands) be a weekly feature on this blog: the What We Wear Wednesdays. What is What We Wear Wednesday, or rather what will it be in the future? Well, we decided to write each week (see what I did there) about what outfits we like to wear and of course, illustrate this with some pictures. That simple, no need for some intellectual titles or names where people have no idea what you're talking about.

Up today is the outfit I wore on my birthday party last week with as the main oh-you-take-my-breath-away-if-I-have-the-honour-to-wear-you item: my new pink maxi skirt with raised front. And luckily for me, the taking my breath away part was not literally the case. Au contraire, the skirt was quite comfortable! I wasn't sure about it at the beginning of the evening, but boy, I had fallen in love with it by the time the night fell and the cocktails went straight to my head! Of course, not everybody was convinced about it: I heard that I looked like an oriental floozie... But whatevs, because few moments later a friend told me I reminded her about a mermaid with my pink skirt and my blue hair. Total WIN! Oh, and our outfits actually matched together: both pastel and quite mermaid-y.
