We Wear: Mermaid in silver pleated skirt and glitter sneakers

I'm wearing:
Jean Jacket: Pretty Little Things
Mermaid Crew patch: Pull & Bear
Hello Kitty patch, glitter socks: Veritas
Rainbow and Pour it Up patch, gold shell purse: Skinny Dip London
Dolphin pin: TITI and THE GERMAN KID
Starfish and strawberry pin: gift
Flower body, glitter platform sneakers, dusted pink velvet choker: Asos
Silver pleated skirt: Millenium via La Bottega

These past few weeks have all been about playing dress-up so it seems. First there was Halloween and I extended that vibe with my witchy outfit, followed by a 40 year Punk music inspired outfit (which I also actually wore "in real life" to attend a show starring Equal Idiots and Double Veterans). And today I'm demonstrating the outfit I wore to a party themed "under the sea" hosted by Karolien's former Chiro.

It very quickly became clear I would - again - wear this silver pleated skirt and my glitter platform sneakers. I only was not sure what to wear on top. I wanted something with shells so I bought this light blue colored crop top with shiny pink shells I found on Etsy only to find out it really did not look all that great on my silver skirt. The fit was too boxy and the color not perfectly pastelly blue. It does look nice with shorts though. So instead I wore my flowery body from Asos which has only debuted once before on this blog namely in our header :'D

It didn't bother me that much that I wasn't able to wear my shelly (haha shelly) crop top because I pimped my jean jacket with the most awesome patch ever made. Totes in love! Karolien has the same patch (ok, she had it first) so we really are the start of a mermaid CRU. Or crew, crew will do.

And did I not say I would buy a lot more velvet chokers? Well I actually haven't, I bought this the same time I bought the black one. BUT GOOD THING I DID BECAUSE, DAMN, HOW GOOD DOES THAT LOOK.

You may not notice but I actually made an effort to do some mermaidy make-up! I got my hands on the Urban Decay Moondust eye shadow palette ànd the Vice lipstick palette (thank you sister in law) so I just smeared my face with glitter. That's how it feels when I apply make-up: I have zero experience. I did base my eyeshadow smearing on Annebeth's review of the palette because she conveniently had a "grungy mermaid" look. Now please also teach me how to actually apply these things :D

P.S.: Yes I combined a gold purse with a silver skirt. Mermaids can do that.
P.S.S.: Yes, I'm wearing my socks inside out. Mermaids can be stupid.

We Wear: Wedding attire

Ahhh weddings, if not for the food, I love attending them because they provide the perfect occasion for me to dress up and go all the way. Already over a month ago (where did *time* go?), I was invited to the wedding of one of my childhood friends who I've known since I was still getting my Barbie doll named Jessica in all kinds of trouble ranging from graffiti spraying to skipping class. Merely thinking about how we used to spend over a day just dividing up all the garments, tiny shoes, furniture, cars... before we could even think about really playing with our expanded Barbie set just makes me long for those days (where did *time* go²). Or you know, makes me want to own a house just like my Barbie did: Hell, who doesn't want a pink mansion?

I saw this dress online over at Sheinside (now Shein) and just knew I had to click it home. Only afterwards I realised it would be absolutely perfect to wear to my friend's wedding. The quality with these budget websites is always tricky though, so I wasn't entirely sure how it would end up. But the beauty of it is that for only 30 euros, you can never make too big of a mistake. I unpacked it and it was absolutely gorgeous! Although I have to admit that it seemed to be tailored for a giant as it was to long for me with my 1.75 meters in high heels.  No worries, thanks to my grandma that got dealt with the appropriate way.

This dress also sparked my omnipresent mermaid gene once more and I thus wanted mermaid hair. I brought in my sister who out of the blue made this fishtail braid, therefore completing my transformation. I am really satisfied with how everything turned out, the wedding was awesome with a lot of dancing and gin tonics and my friend looked absolutely stunning. Now, can someone please invite me to a fancy party so I can wear this stunner once more? That would be great.

PS: Due to circumstances as in me forgetting to bring my camera, these pictures were taken with my phone which is getting crappier by the minute.

Currently craving for (fashion wise or other):
Uhm, better weather?!

We Wear: Floral Maxi (and pink hair)

So Monday became Thursday. I'M SORRY! And as if this tardiness isn't enough I'm showing you my outfit in four slightly out of focus photographs. I hope I don't have to explain it's too damn cold and windy to be wearing a floral maxi dress. But this is what I wore last Saturday to Radio Modern and to witness the last moments of Crossbonefest, so this is what I wanted to show you guys.

Last week was such a good week. I dyed my hair pink, went to a punkrock festival and got my foot tattooed. In comparison this week has been pretty blunt so far and it's draining my energy levels. I also never want to wash my hair again because I am seriously in love with my pink locks. Can't I have pink hair forever? (In these pictures the pink is already a bit toned down because I just really needed to wash my hair on Tuesday. Insert sad face.)

About the dress. I love it but the underskirt keeps creeping up when I'm walking. I should have foreseen this in the fitting room but I was blinded by the nice fit of this dress and I really wanted to have a maxi dress. Does anybody have any tips on how to keep that damn underskirt in its place?

Oh and also: foot tattoos hurt like a bitch.

I'm wearing:
Floral Maxi Dress: H&M
Jacket: Louche by Paplou
Peeptoes: H&M
Headband: dress-up shop

The bruises are punkrock leftovers and therefore part of my outfit.

And a little reminder of a pretty perfect Friday night.

What We Wear Wednesday: Glow in the dark

So we all got the part where neon is hot. And that it hurts your eyes (sorry). During my stay in Cannes two weeks ago, I spotted the most gorgeous girl with the most perfect neon maxi skirt. So when I came back in Belgium and saw this skirt just hanging there at H&M, I immediately took it with me to the fitting room. I was already convinced that I love maxi skirts....on other people. Just not me. Result? Me twirling around that fitting room for ages with that skirt, but I'm SO glad I decided to just go ahead and take it! I'm really into not thinking too much (or should I say: doubting too much) and just go for things these days, so it seems. And that same day already I took my skirt out for a spin. I was having some drinks with friends at Genk city. Sure got a lot of looks! Probably because I was blinding people, the glow in the dark bit is not a joke, folks! This skirt makes me feel graceful and sophisticated even, I don't know if it actually looks that way too but ah well...who cares.

This is also the outfit I wore to attend the Pukkelpop Boiler Party. Just a matter of kicking off a festival in style. And with a hangover the day after. I know that Karolien already emphasized it enough, but Pukkelpop has been truly awesome, sigh.

If any of you have any complaints about hurting eyes or even nausia because of the brightness of my skirt, please leave a comment below and I'll blow a kiss to make things right.

Top: New Look - Skirt, shoes: H&M - Cupcake ring: gift - Feather ring: Six - Bracelet: my mom's

What We Wear Wednesday

Today I'd like to tell you about a little something we will initiate today and what will (hopefully, if time is on our hands) be a weekly feature on this blog: the What We Wear Wednesdays. What is What We Wear Wednesday, or rather what will it be in the future? Well, we decided to write each week (see what I did there) about what outfits we like to wear and of course, illustrate this with some pictures. That simple, no need for some intellectual titles or names where people have no idea what you're talking about.

Up today is the outfit I wore on my birthday party last week with as the main oh-you-take-my-breath-away-if-I-have-the-honour-to-wear-you item: my new pink maxi skirt with raised front. And luckily for me, the taking my breath away part was not literally the case. Au contraire, the skirt was quite comfortable! I wasn't sure about it at the beginning of the evening, but boy, I had fallen in love with it by the time the night fell and the cocktails went straight to my head! Of course, not everybody was convinced about it: I heard that I looked like an oriental floozie... But whatevs, because few moments later a friend told me I reminded her about a mermaid with my pink skirt and my blue hair. Total WIN! Oh, and our outfits actually matched together: both pastel and quite mermaid-y.
