We Wear: Lost without you

You may remember this sweater from one of the previous blog posts when we talked about SKM upping their game and a few months later, it is still one of my go to items. Casually with a pants or more preppy with a skirt and brogues, anything's possible with this beauty by Zoe Karssen! I really want to say I will take it with me on my holiday - which I will be leaving for TOMORROW - but let's get real, Seville with its 33° C begs for crop tops and mini skirts more than for a sweater. Sorry not sorry!

That being said, if you have ANY tips on what to visit, do, eat, hang out or drink in Seville, do share! I will be there for 5 heavenly days, together with my mom and sisters and I am more than looking forward to it. Hell, I even packed my bag already days in advance, which is very out of character for me. Seville, here I come!

We Wear: Christmas sweater and glitter socks

I FOUND MY BROGUES! And a new job. And I found these brogues at my new job, ain't that convenient. 2015 hasn't been so nice for me yet but finding a new job and working on my concert photography already mean a few steps in a better direction. And there's another project coming up, but I won't tell more yet (I knooooow, I'm sorry) because I don't want to jynx it.

How has your 2015 been? Anybody else had major issues with turning 27? 2015 for me can be narrowed down to: insomnia, nervous breakdowns and general sadness. I'm glad this year is almost over, that is all I can say.

Even though I usually like my outfits with an edge, sometimes I want to let my inner classy girl shine. For that, there is no larger inspiration than pretty street style French girls: They demonstrate that certain je-ne-sais-quoi, which makes way for an easy, minimalist, yet fashionable outfit. Think: stripes, brogues, and a thick camel coat to protect you from the very cold breeze roaming around Belgium. Add to that a hat, and you're good to go! 

Also, high waisted everythings are one of the best sartorial discoveries I made in the past year. They are just way more flattering for my figure than regular denims, while creating an outfit a lot more interesting than your average top/denim combination. Especially if you pair it with a simple crop top, that other big love of mine. I can't wait for spring to break them out of my closet on a regular basis again!

We wear: White on white

It has happened: After all those years shaking my head at the sight of Lies reaching for ANOTHER white purse, white pair of shoes, white earrings, white whatevers, I too have caught the disease. It may be due to the incredible weather we've been experiencing these past weeks, but I've been neglecting my pitch black garments - well, kind of - and instead reaching for those few completely white items. I even became obsessed with finding the perfect, completely Tipp-Ex alike white nail polish, a mission that I did succeed in by the way (Only You White French by Ici Paris XL to the rescue!). Also, white jelly sandals are now hopefully on their way to my doorstep. 

PS: You may be mistaken, but I'm not wearing white socks in these pictures. Just the normal tone of my skin, folks. No worries, I'm already soaking in all the sun I can!

We Wear: Another year, another outfit

Hi there 2014, glad to have ya! Although the new year is not getting off to a good start for me: I caught a cold, which is driving me berserk. Seriously, the sneezing and tissues everywhere are annoying the crap out of me (by the way, thanks lil' sis, I'm pretty sure you infected me). But let's not pettifog about some minor cold, shall we? Besides, considering I'm in this very moment spending my night (writing posts up front, good job!) with some tea and only the most comfortable piece of clothing I'll ever own (yes, onesie, I love you), I guess being a little bit sick is not the worst thing in the world.

 About the outfit, I especially like the combination of deep reds, greens and blues, so absolutely perfect for winter. And also, I'm not wearing a beanie, which is groundbreaking taking into respect that the thing is practically glued to my head. No worries, in the next few weeks a new addition to the beanie family will most certainly make an appearance on the blog. I just ordered the TITI + THE GERMAN KID beanie, which I'm sure will be best friends with the rest. I love sales! Have you guys already let yourself go in the sales? Or are you armed with a very specific list of what you do and do not need, like yours truly over here? 

P.S.: I may have a very specific list, I do stray from it every now and then, as you may have noticed if you follow me on Instagram (@sneilorak). Sandal pumps were most certainly not on the list, but so very pretty.

What We Wear Wednesday: Birthday blossoms

 Already more than a week ago, it was my birthday (or actually more birthweek) and although I'm not one to be quite happy to be aging, I'm always in for a party/celebration! I was more than thrilled that the sun was showing her lovely face on my birthday and was determined to snap pictures surrounded by blossoms. Only problem there was that I was quite picky concerning this specific blossomy background of the pictures. First of all, I wanted pink blossoms, preferably magnolias. Secondly, I wanted to practically drown in the blossoms and not just stand awkwardly in front of just one tree. Not an easy assignment, I tell ya.

In the end, I gave up on my pink idea of perfection (although I was just so damn sure it would look great with my powder pink dress) and settled for white blossoms. And I have to admit, it looks pretty damn good as well! This reminds me that I sometimes have to let go of some weird, absurd idea of perfection that starts to root in my head and instead just be happy with what I do have. I'm saying absurd idea of perfection, because most things that pop up in my head as significant or as meaningful probably don't mean a whole lot for other people. And that works the other way around as well (for instance, I couldn't care less if my home isn't perfectly clean, as long as it feels like my home).

A pretty mainstream dress (although very short, but blame the designers who do not seem to think about tall people when putting together those very tiny dresses) spiced up with some interesting details: sometimes that's all you need.

INSPIRATION: Sock You!

Socks. Not really the most interesting piece of clothing one can wear, nor an item that usually draws attention. I have to admit, I myself almost always wear plain black socks, mostly because it's easy to combine with just about anything. Nevertheless, I do appreciate an outfit that toys around with whimsical socks to give it an extra funny edge. The style that immediately pops in my mind are brogues combined with colored, printed socks. For men, but also in a more androgynous style for women. I actually also like printed socks combined with Vans, but I couldn't find a decent picture to illustrate it. Use your imagination though, you can do it!

With this in mind, I wanted to introduce you to a brand that specializes in funny, edgy socks: Sock You. This brand is not afraid of being different and yells a big 'Sock you!' to all boring socks out there! Because it is a local brand and local brands should be supported as much as possible, go check them out. The socks are all one size and unisex and you can order them online or go to one of the dealers (sounds like drugs, but okay, don't mean that!). 

I have already bought the Skeletors (last picture) and totally love them! The online service is also very good: very client friendly and when my package didn't arrive, they helped me as fast and as good as possible. Even got an extra pair for free, because the wait was longer than expected. Now, let's go buy some socks!
