We Wear: A serenade to burgundy

I have to start this blog post with a confession. Burgundy, I adore you. You give me the same feels as my beloved black, but are just that tad less strict and hard, leaving room for some playfulness. Besides, you’re the perfect companion, complimenting black in every single outfit. Hats, knits, boots, bags, skirts, dresses… Honestly, burgundy anything makes my heart skip a beat. It has even gotten to the point where I regret February announcing the end of winter – and that really is no way of thinking for a summer child as myself.

I’m already trying to figure out ways to incorporate this deep color into my spring/summer wardrobe, but I’m failing completely in that department. It just doesn’t feel right as this color is – in my mind – entirely associated with the chilliness and general dark feel of January and February, right after the holidays have passed. So I’m slowly starting to say goodbye to my everthings in burgundy, which is approximately half of my closet at the moment. I exaggerate, I have been told to do that from time to time. Still, is it weird I feel sad winter is passing?

We Wear: Once upon a time

With spring peeking around the corner and it being March and all, I figured I should clear out all the outfit pictures I still have laying around. Today's one is a winter outfit and I have this tinkling feeling that these weeks may be the last for it to be relevant - weather wise that is. Aside from that oracular note straight from my glass sphere, I don't have much to add. It are busy times, all under the motto of "Work hard, play hard" which will most certainly will end in "Crash hard".

We Wear: Monochrocoralburgundy

Apparently dressing up in the same hues is something I have done my whole life (read: since I was fourteen). Because some things never change, I decided to give it another try. It's not completely monochromatic, but I like the outcome anyway. Reds and pinks clearly are my favorites (some things really never change).

I remember wearing these Vans exactly a year ago while walking in the snow. We still haven't had any winter yet here in Belgium and that saddens me. I like a good walk in the snow! On the other hand: I am completely ready for spring, pastel hues and punkrock festivals (GROEZROCK!). But in my opinion, you can only really appreciate spring and the first warm rays of sunshine, when you have survived (dramatic much) a good winter with snow and freezing cold wind. And like, I'm not even wearing a coat in this outfit.

We Wear: Another year, another outfit

Hi there 2014, glad to have ya! Although the new year is not getting off to a good start for me: I caught a cold, which is driving me berserk. Seriously, the sneezing and tissues everywhere are annoying the crap out of me (by the way, thanks lil' sis, I'm pretty sure you infected me). But let's not pettifog about some minor cold, shall we? Besides, considering I'm in this very moment spending my night (writing posts up front, good job!) with some tea and only the most comfortable piece of clothing I'll ever own (yes, onesie, I love you), I guess being a little bit sick is not the worst thing in the world.

 About the outfit, I especially like the combination of deep reds, greens and blues, so absolutely perfect for winter. And also, I'm not wearing a beanie, which is groundbreaking taking into respect that the thing is practically glued to my head. No worries, in the next few weeks a new addition to the beanie family will most certainly make an appearance on the blog. I just ordered the TITI + THE GERMAN KID beanie, which I'm sure will be best friends with the rest. I love sales! Have you guys already let yourself go in the sales? Or are you armed with a very specific list of what you do and do not need, like yours truly over here? 

P.S.: I may have a very specific list, I do stray from it every now and then, as you may have noticed if you follow me on Instagram (@sneilorak). Sandal pumps were most certainly not on the list, but so very pretty.

What We Wear Wednesday: Paris, mais oui!

A few days after my fabulous trip to Barcelona and with not even enough time to catch my breath, I joined my friends to hop on the Thalys, destination Paris for a short city trip. Because I was so very fond of my outfit - in my opinion it was the most Parisian I could get - I only took that one outfit with me for the weekend. And I don't know about you guys, but that is SO unlike me. Most of the time I can't decide on which crap to take with me, leading to me taking everything with me that surrounds me at le moment suprême of packing my bags. Not this time, no sir! I guess all the travelling this year at least taught me how to pack efficiently and minimalistic.

I only received the stocking/tights in the mail a few days before leaving for Paris and of course they had to be worn in Paris. I got a lot of interested looks when strolling the streets of Paris, bartenders pointing at my legs screaming 'Le tour Eiffel! Le Notre dame!' and strangers that snapped pictures without even hiding it a little bit. When I take a picture of a stranger, I at least try to be subtle. That's just common courtesy. 

I already noticed quite some blogger dress accordingly to the country/city they're visiting. Is it really a well-known phenomenon, aka do you guys do it?

What We Wear Wednesday: Quiz me quick

I wore this outfit to attend a quiz last Friday, hence the non-inspirational title of this blogpost. We ended up sixteenth out of fifty, so not that bad! Although I can't take credit for that. I really don't know by heart which is the sixth planet from the sun, or what the abbreviation EGKS stands for. I DID know who are the main two characters from the well-known trilogy "Fifty shades of Grey" while nobody else knew that (I mean, really?), and that was worth two points, hallelujah!

To the ones actually paying attention: yes I'm wearing the same loafers as I posted as inspiration in my previous post. They were too pretty not to take home, but they do hurt my feet like hell as they are rather stiff. The pricetag was also a bit higher than expected. I didn't really pay attention, I figured they would be 10 euros like most shoes at H&M, but then at the register I had to pay a lot more then I calculated in my head. Apparently these shoes cost almost 20 euros. Oops.

The blazer is actually a winter item and it gives me an English feel. I like the way it turned out combined with my flamingo top and burgundy pants. I can't stress it enough that burgundy pants are a must-have for everyone. It works well with EVERYTHING! My forest green thrifted purse also adds to the English feel. That really was a bargain, I should go thrift shopping more!

This is (or feels like) a rather classy, grown-up outfit, but I'm sure the flamingos, necklace, bow ring and pink nail polish make the whole thing a lot less boring and more "me". I'm sure people will still gasp when I say I'm actually 25. MISSION ACCOMPLISHED!
