What We Wear Wednesday: Fallen Leaves

Whereas last time I was lost somewhere in the twilight zone between frolicking in my summer skin (yes, Death Cab for Cutie is indeed a great band) and preparing for the leaves falling down, this time I'm proud to announce that I too have entered fall. Bravo! You can all start dressing more fall/winter appropriate, I can handle it now. My skin is also saying goodbye to summer: my tan is fading and fading and my skin is literally coming off.

The outfit du jour is something I wore on a tremendously rainy day and will probably be my go-to outfit for all the rainy days yet to come. Biker boots, parka and beanie for the win! I picked up the boots at Primark, because I wanted to have cheap pair of shoes to go to parties or outside while the elements of nature are showing their forces without worrying about ruining my shoes. Since I kind of wrecked my other new shoes at the Heideroosjes concert, it really seemed like a smart move (plus, an extra pair of shoes). Luckily, the wrecked shoes are only a little bit damaged, they are still pretty (or so I keep telling myself). I'll show them off quite soon, I'm sure!

Come to think of it, the outfit may be a bad karma outfit. The day I wore it, I didn't have the best of all days AND I dropped my cell phone in the toilet. No sweat, I'm not one of the hipster kind so it was just an ordinary cell phone and not a gazzillion euros worth kind of thing. The worst part about the whole toilet thing is that I practically dove in to save my cell phone, which was all for nothing because it's dead as a doornail.

PS: Totally referenced another song, besides the Death Cab for Cutie song. In the title: Fallen Leaves by Billy Talent.

Boots, bag, blouse: Primark - Beanie, scarf, necklace, parka, Aztec leggings: H&M
(wow, I'm only wearing stuff from Primark & H&M)

Hihi, I look like a gnome.

Antwerp Fashion Night: Bloggers Closet Sale

Fashion nights and weeks, they happen all across the globe in big cities like New York, Paris and London. Of course, Belgium couldn't stay behind and what better city to organize a night filled with fashion than the fashion capital of our tiny country: Antwerp. On the 28th of September, le moment suprême was there and we were especially interested in the Bloggers Closet Sale. I mean, what's not to like or even love: our favorite bloggers selling their clothes sounded like music in our ears.

Since we also had tickets for the farewell concert of the Heideroosjes (a Dutch punk band) and kind of forgot about them (we bought them a year ago or something), we decided we were in for a crazy combo that night. First station of our journey was the Antwerp Fashion Night and the Bloggers Closet Sale in Antwerp, next stop was Brussels for a kick ass concert. We spent several hours in trains and cars, but it was all worth it!

The Bloggers Closet Sale was a huge success for bloggers like The Styling Dutchman, Dogs and Dresses, The Fashion Folio, Shark Attack, Insomnia and many more, but of course also for us buying gals. Not only were there pretty, delicious little cupcakes from Patty Cakes and Tao drinks, we also managed to score some new assets for our wardrobes. I bought a knitted vest from Polienne and a sweater from Dogs and Dresses, love love love it! Lies bought a shirt, also from Dogs and Dresses, and a blazer from Shark Attack. After browsing through the clothing racks at the Bloggers Closet Sale, it was time to bounce back to the train station to take a train to Brussels to scream our lungs out at the Heideroosjes concert.

PS: Sorry for the lack of pictures, but we really were in a hurry and kind of overwhelmed by all the clothes that were ours to take home.

PS2: Totally fell in love with the glitter shoes from The Styling Dutchman, but unfortunately they were a tad too small for one of my feet (yes, I'm a mutant and my feet are two different sizes).

And to go out with a bang, HERE WE GO: HEIDEROOSJES!

What We Wear Wednesday: Job Interview

As I mentioned before, I'm recently graduated and looking for a job. During summer I had my summer job, vacations, festivals and the boyfriend on my mind, but ever since I got back from our surf trip and the boyfriend's back in Ghent, the job hunt is open.

I've been sending out my resume, motivation letter and portfolio to numerous interesting companies and I've been applying to several intriguing job vacancies. The VDAB website has been my best friend the last two weeks.

And my efforts paid off. I have two job interviews planned for this week! Of course it's important that you make a good first impression. So first of all: dress to impress. I want to show you three outfits that I would wear to a job interview. Please do give me your opinion! I actually wanted to share even more outfits, but I ended up making the same combinations with different pieces of clothing. I found out I don't have that much interview-proof clothes!

Outfit number one: Coco Chanel

Parka: Zara - Shirt, jeans: H&M - Shoes: Vans, Bag: thrifted - Earrings: Hema

I'm not actually wearing Chanel, but this image of Audrey Tautou in "Coco avant Chanel" inspired me. I love the French look with the navy stripes. It's classy, yet not boring. Yesterday I was searching some online shops for a highwaisted jeans, and today I went and got it at H&M. It's a perfect fit and a slight miracle. Usually I get really annoyed when trying on jeans in the fitting room. I end up miserable and feeling like an obese midget. My brain tends to overreact. Today I took three sizes with me in the fitting room and I had to go back to take an even smaller size. I was so taken aback! Clearly in a good way. These jeans fit me like a glove and it makes me want to erase everything I said about my ZARA jeans. I found my new love: highwaisted jeans. A total recommendation for everyone who has jeans issues!

Outfit number two: Variation

Blazer, jeans: H&M - Blouse: Mango - Shoes: Carrefour (true story) - Bag: Forever 21

This is actually a variation of outfit number one. These jeans just work so well with everything and they seem like the perfect pair of interview jeans. I brought in some more color by wearing my neon striped Mango blouse. I could've easily combined my Vans with this outfit, but I wanted something different. I bought these cute ballerina's last year at Carrefour for five euros. Score!

Outfit number three: Saint-Tropez vs job interview

Blazer, shoes: H&M - Dress (+ belt): Mango - Bag: thrifted - Earrings: made by Eline

This dress always makes me dream about strolling through the Saint-Tropez harbor, with a big hat and oversized sunglasses. But throw in some tights and a blazer and you can perfectly go to a job interview. Right? I wore this outfit for my internship interview at Boondoggle last year. And well, they hired me.

Recap:

I would totally wear these outfits on normal days too, not only for job interviews! They are outfits that I find job interview worthy. I actually already made up my mind and I'll be wearing outfit number one. But please do tell me your favorite! Or if you have any tips, remarks or funny experiences in the field: you know where to find the comment box.

PS: I'm sorry for the indoor photos, but it was pouring outside.

Bazaar Bizar Deluxe

Ok, before I start writing: the date of the previous post just changed. Well, who cares you say? The title is 'What We Wear WEDNESDAY' and stupid blogger says it's posted on a Thursday. Liar.

But let's cut to the chase. Our surf trip has been AMAZING! Thanks again to everyone to make this trip unforgettable. And a special thank you to Sofie for being such a perfect chauffeur (we'll forget our little rollercoaster ride). I really miss the sound of the rumbling waves and the beautiful, hot sun. And still I'm not cutting to the chase.

The day after our return (actually a few hours later), it was time for Bazaar Bizar Deluxe! A vintage, handmade market located in an old farmhouse, co-organised by Sundays are Fundays. The concept 'Bazaar Bizar' was already well-known in the area. My friend Eline has been organising it, together with another friend, for two years now and every time there were more and more visitors. When we and two other friends (Ralf and Stijn) started Sundays are Fundays (a concept where we try to avoid lazy, wasted Sundays and get people out of their houses) we needed a kickoff event, and what better than Bazaar Bizar? Together we agreed to spice things up a little, make it an even more unique concept by only allowing crafters who sell pure handmade things. No etsy-bricolage that is. We arranged some music to wrap around the market and our friends from Asado Amigos made sure nobody was hungry by providing us with homemade hamburgers. Okay, they were sold out very rapidly so maybe some stomachs were left unfilled. I blame Darwin.

It has been a great success. The weather was fine (chilly compared to Labenne, but still) and dry, drinks were chilled and people were enjoying themselves. For me it has been the perfect Sunday after our holiday.

And we spotted some leopard boots. A day is always better when you can wear or at least spot some leopard stuff. We all agree on that, don't we? Even my mom was wearing a leopard scarf, hooray for that! And of course you have seen Karolien's outfit of that day and thus her leopard clutch.

Here are some pictures to get you in the mood:

What We Wear Wednesday: Summer blues

Oh boy, is it autumn already?! We just got back from our surf holiday in Labenne, France (which was great!) and while we were gone, the whole country already went dark colors, hats and scarfs, full autumn style. I am so not ready for that, I just need a little Indian summer to say my goodbyes to sultry summer nights, barbecues and drinking cocktails outside.

The thing I have the most trouble with every time the season changes is the emergence of doubt about pretty much every single piece in my wardrobe. Especially in the transition from summer to autumn, I find this very annoying. Too chilly to wear frisky summer clothes, but not yet really into the whole autumn-winter vibe. And most importantly, I need to go shopping first, BEFORE autumn can start. I'm sorry for all you people who are ready for autumn, I'm just not, so you're gonna have to wait. By the way, am I the only one with this problem? Anybody else who finds it hard to hide your short denim shorts in the darkest places of your wardrobe while starting the everlasting search for the perfect winter coat?

Anyway, this outfit is a perfect example of me not knowing what to wear and especially not wanting to enter autumn. I wore this on Sunday, the day after we got back, to go to a handmade market that we talked about here (Bazaar Bizar Deluxe). Obviously without having a clue that whilst it was still summer in Labenne, that was sadly not the case here. Vibrant colors and no jacket, I nearly froze my ass off. Best way to get over this blues? Shopping time!

Pants, top: H&M - Denim shirt: Primark - shoes: Vans - Purse: New Look - Headband: Pamplona, Spain
