What We Wear Wednesday: Something old,something new

Considering my mom is currently moving to a new place, quite evidently that also means that I've got some stuff to move. And by 'move' I mostly mean: clear out, and especially my closet. Luckily, I've been experiencing that cluttered, suffocating feeling lately of having too much stuff (been happening more and more, am I growing up?), so a perfect opportunity emerges! 

I haven't actually cleared out my closet just yet, but I did cast a quick glance on some of my old items that I might throw out. And there it was, the dress I almost wore to death back in 2009: a colorful, frolicsome summer dress by H&M. On all previous big cleaning up occasions, I kept the dress, thinking I might wear it again someday. Naturally, that didn't happen. This time I put myself to a challenge: wear the dress in an outfit that you'll actually wear and you can keep it.

And so I did. I decided to pair the summer dress with all new items. A denim cut-off vest which I customized myself just a little bit, a flower head band, 'peace' ring and round sunglasses to get the hippie vibe going and... my new cut-out boots! I'm so absolutely thrilled with them, although I did have to search a little bit to find the perfect pair. Mostly because I didn't want to spend 100 euro's on boots like that (even though I totally loved the Sacha ones too). I'm over the roof happy with them and glad that I am jumping on this shoe trend train (while I didn't get aboard with the whole sneaker wedges thing, I guess it just wasn't my style).

What We Wear Wednesday: Cheerleader squad

When Lies mentioned in one of the previous posts that she had a new skirt, I already knew trouble were ahead. That's because I was pretty sure I bought the same one a few weeks beforehand. Now, us buying the same or similar items has happened before (one of the risks of shopping at H&M and New Look) and always with the same consequences: walking around like Siamese twins or something. This time was no different. When I arrived at the Rock Herk festival, I heard a muffled scream along the lines of  a sad cat screaming 'Oh noo!' bursting out of Lies' mouth. Yep, we were wearing the same skirt. 

It felt like we were both about to cheer for our favorite hunky quarterback in the local high school team. However, I do think we styled it quite differently (good for us!). And this actually might just come down to the core of our styles and the combination of both of these styles: we are similar, but still different. This does not mean that we are copies or absolutely desperately trying to be the same girl. Nope, we are just best friends who are interested in the same styles, love the same things, shop at the same stores, inspire each other and both have brown hair. But we still do our own thing and love each other for it. Next time we'll coordinate our outfits though in order to NOT wear the same skirt at the same time.

What We Wear Wednesday: Porto

As you might have read in the previous blog post, we are back from Porto (Portugal) and what a great trip it was! On our last day, we visited the old village in Porto (La Ribeira) and had a glimpse on how port is produced. Of course, we were very much obliged to also taste this port and I can tell you, rosé port is the summit for me/us. We strolled through the alleys and checked out a market, and basically just enjoyed ourselves. 

I got to finally wear my maxi dress that I purchased on my trip to the US (but hey, it's just Forever 21, so no need to hurry your asses across the ocean) in combination with the heavily searched for crop top. Instant summer feeling; definitely when keeping into mind the lack of spring in Belgium at that time. I absolutely adore crop tops, but I was kind of afraid it wouldn't quite match my body type. But in hindsight and when browsing through the pictures, I looove this outfit. It lets my inner hippie breathe, you know. 

If you're wondering why my writing is so uninspirational, it's because I'm typing this on a late Sunday evening and I'm leaving for Morocco tomorrow for some surfing. One part of my head is already enjoying the holiday and the surf and another part is contemplating on whether I packed all the necessary supplies. So there's only a very small part actually writing this, I am so sorry for not giving you my undivided attention. I'll make it up to you by showing you this picture with me laughing so hard. And next time I'll REALLY make it up to you. But for now, I'm gone surfing! 

What We Wear Wednesday: High waisted denim

I'm back from France (booe) and I'm wearing my denim shorts again. I already grew quite fond of them, and since I have never shown this much leg to the world before, you may say that's quite odd. I adore the multiple looks you can create with simple denim shorts, so I've gotten over my big legs syndrome and just put those damn shorts on. I've enjoyed some really lovely weather back at the Côte d'Azur so these shorts also came in verrrrry handy. And I'm too pleased to see that the Belgian weather FINALLY has come to its senses! This is good news for all of us who are leaving for Pukkelpop today! Including us, yay!

My sandals and hat are brand new! I bought them in Cannes last week. I actually wanted to buy some sandals before I left for France, but I didn't find any back here in rainy Belgium. But then there I was in Cannes, minding my own business and enjoying the sun when these babies caught my eye. I immediately knew that I had to buy them. So that's what I did. I really LOVE it when you absolutely know for sure you won't regret buying something. They're coral, they're studded: they're a double win! 

My top is from Zara and I'm sure I don't have to explain the awesomeness. It's white, it's see-through (and therefore: breezy) and it has an open back. All the things I love combined in one. Perfection!

What We Wear Wednesday: Festival Fringes

After a well-earned holiday in surfers paradise (read: San Sebastian and Mimizan) and while Lies covered my ass for this blog, it's my turn to do some of the hard work. Okay, let's face it, it's not really that hard work, but when you switch your surfboard for a desk , EVERYTHING seems like hard work.

Anyway, with a little bit of a delay, I present you the outfit I wore on Thursday on Rock Werchter a.k.a. the hottest day of all time (as you may have noticed, I have a thing for exaggerating). I decided to kind of combine the ubiquitous hippie look with some more rock items. I actually bought the top with the fringes to wear on the Groezrock festival, but the weather gods decided differently and spoiled my plans. And maybe I was indeed a bit too optimistic about the April weather and especially the April caprices ('Aprilse grillen'), but you never know in Belgium, right?

The outfit proved to be a great idea in the blistering heat of that Thursday the 28th of June: a cool, soft breeze right through my top would provide the oh so necessary cooling down. And you can never go wrong with shorts when you plan on jumping, screaming and moshing during your favorite band (that is in my case Blink 182 of course). I actually spent some time browsing the Interwebz for the perfect Stars and Stripes shorts, because I wanted them to look a bit worn-out and vintage with a high waist and not look too cheap with colours that are too bright. Luckily, I stumbled upon them when I was in Topshop in London. A bit overwhelmed by the enormous amounts of perfect clothing and the store in general, I managed to add this must have item to my wardrobe.


I'm also wearing my favourite shoes of all time, I simply love my Vans. So incredibly comfortable, versatile and again a necessary item if you plan on bouncing up and down in the audience. Also, no risk of leaving a shoe behind when somebody steps on your foot, a little something that might occur when one is wearing ballerinas. Or as Lies already pointed out in one of the previous posts, ballerinas aren't always a match made in heaven when walking around in them all day on some sandy festival grounds.

By the way, totally loving my Flamingo Pink hair, this time the colour really pulled through great!
