We Wear: Kiss the boys and make them cry

Karolien isn't alone anymore as a proud owner of a Zoe Karssen sweatshirt. I jumped on that bandwagon as soon as it got discounted at La Bottega. The perks of working in a shoe / clothing store. The downside of working in a shoe / clothing store? I..want..it...ALL! I photograph all of the new pieces for our webshop so I have a unique preview of what will be in store. And how much it may hurt my wallet. 

Anyway, I wore this outfit to attend a secret warm up GOOSE show at Café Café in Hasselt. Yeah, GOOSE! They played mainstage Werchter last Saturday and did a sort of try out in our local café and however I'm probably not the biggest fan around - and not even a fan of the genre in particular - it was one of the best things I have seen lately. The room literally EXPLODED with their very first tunes. I was blown away and in awe and I couldn't stop thinking we all were writing a little piece of Belpop history. 

We Wear: All black and a dash of sparkle

And a dash of leopard of course. I've been wearing these shoes non-stop, seriously, so that's why you spot them so much here on our little space on the web. Since we sort of still have an indian summer going here, there's no need to be wearing a coat yet. And that's a good thing 'cause I don't even have a new winter coat. I've been wearing my leopard one constantly (as you may have noticed too) and I'm really tired of my green Zara coat I've been wearing for two winters already. My goal is to find a perfect thrift shop coat. Budget shopping 2.0.

I like to wear black on black but I'm not one of those people who wears only this combination. But when I do, I add some sparkle. I've always had a weak spot for sparkles or subtle shimmers in clothing and this cheap ass top from H&M totally fits that bill. As does this purse, which I rediscovered when dressing up for a twenties themed party. I'll make an outfit post of that too, since I'm actually almost a week overdue with this post. So that's me saying "I'm sorry" and "Can we still be friends?".

We'll all remember that day when everything at the H&M webshop was (faulty) priced 12,99 euros and everybody lost its head, went berserk and bought so much we all thought H&M would be bankrupt after this debacle. Me too eagerly clicked some items to my basket but much to my regret I noticed the price tags in my basket had already been changed back to normal quicker before I could enter my Mastercard number. Therefore I blew off operation H&M only to come across the more fortunate on my Facebook wall, still boasting about their recent bargains.

This debacle did made me discover these beautiful leopard, heeled chelsea boots and for only 29,99 I still call this a bargain. So I went back to the H&M webshop and clicked them in my basket anyway. Because screw you unemployment, I still buy what I want to! I probably didn't make up for all the marauders out there, though. H&M claims it was not a marketing stunt but I can only conclude for myself that I bought three items (yes, I went back a second time because I also spotted a teddy lined jeans jacket and I needed softness in my life) I probably wouldn't have come across if it wasn't for this whole technical hitch. But I think we can all conclude that almost everything at H&M is a bargain so I'm really not all that bummed. I should try to reduce my number of speeding tickets though. They sure as hell are not a bargain.

We Wear: Pyjama pants (the real deal) and a rant (again).

No outfit today 'cause life brought some really sour lemons upon us the past few days and an outfit seems so trivial right about now. It's also basically too hot to really be wearing anything at all anyway.

But I did not want to leave you guys in the cold - although that would be quite hard to accomplish given the weather - so I'm posting this "I am doing this right now" thing. I am literally outside in my pyjama shorts, eating stracciatella ice cream, petting my cat, taking some Instax memories and my neighbour is mowing his lawn.  I could be upstairs on my "real" computer (I call the big one the real one) editing some pictures I took on Genk on Stage of The Scabs, but I think my hard drive has melted, and my brain will soon follow. Not just because of the heat, but because of all the things we had to process these past days. I'm sorry if I don't give a fuck right now about ootd's or your stupid whole page ad in our stupid meaningless advertising rip-off of a magazine. (I'm exaggerating to make myself feel better.) I know it's frustrating to read about something and not knowing the whole story, but this rant is all you're going to hear about it as it is not up to me to be telling more online. But I did had to vent a little bit so there you have it. There also are a lot of ants here and wasps eat our Bankirai garden furniture (it really is a thing, they are a menace). And I really don't care if you spell Bankirai with or without the capital but I like it better with SO I'M GONNA WRITE IT WITH.

P.S.: I do own a new pair of skinny jeans (by Cheap Monday) which I hope will remain black (although the tag reads is really dark blue, mindfuck much) but if I would wear them right now they would have to be surgically removed afterwards. So not the best idea at the moment, pyjama pants it is.

P.S.S. By the time I finished this post my neighbour also finished mowing his lawn. I now feel like we have a connection.

He Wears: Lumberjack

Since I've been stuck in bed last weekend fighting sinusitus combined with what seems to be the flu, I have no outfit of my own to show you as I have been wearing pyamas the entire time. This may seem amazing, but I can assure you it is not. Luckily Karolien and I discussed we should write about some men outfits too and luckily I already forced my BF into a photoshoot before the flu struck me.

His style can be easily narrowed down to some basic rules: skinny jeans, shirt, hoodie, Vans and depending on the weather, a coat or vest. The skinny jeans are usually black so what you see here is an exception to that rule and the Vans are replaced by desert boots. Simple, manly rules. Sometimes I really wished I was a man.

Personally I love the eclectic mix of colors in this outfit while he usually wears darker tones. Tell me, who doesn't love a man in a checkered shirt?

What We Wear Wednesday: Forever summer

September might have taken a start, that does not mean that summer is already behind us. As a notorious summer lover, I'm always rooting for that magnificent Indian summer with the prettiest evening sunlight ever. Clothing wise, I'm holding on to those last precious moments with bare legs and leaving the house without a jacket.

However, I have to admit that my mind is already a little bit in autumn mode. It's a natural thing to occur for me when the Pukkelpop festival is behind me and all the shops start advertising warm, fuzzy knits. That summer slash autumn feeling is quite reflected in my outfit. A breezy top and a mini skirt make up for the summer part of the outfit, while the bowler hat and the socks in sandals do their best to introduce that little, tiny bit of autumn. And I know, socks in sandals are so passé, but a girl's gotta do what a girl wants to do. Right?

Similar as Lies in last week's post, I'm sporting some jewellery from The Vintageblues: an in your face BAM ring and a rather subtle necklace. The necklace  was kind of an in the heat of the moment thing. I grabbed it, knowing that it was not something I would normally reach for. However, I deemed it the perfect opportunity to style it in an outfit that was still me. Of course now I'm head over heels with it - must have it. What do you guys think? Do you like the necklace?

What We Wear Wednesday: Something old,something new

Considering my mom is currently moving to a new place, quite evidently that also means that I've got some stuff to move. And by 'move' I mostly mean: clear out, and especially my closet. Luckily, I've been experiencing that cluttered, suffocating feeling lately of having too much stuff (been happening more and more, am I growing up?), so a perfect opportunity emerges! 

I haven't actually cleared out my closet just yet, but I did cast a quick glance on some of my old items that I might throw out. And there it was, the dress I almost wore to death back in 2009: a colorful, frolicsome summer dress by H&M. On all previous big cleaning up occasions, I kept the dress, thinking I might wear it again someday. Naturally, that didn't happen. This time I put myself to a challenge: wear the dress in an outfit that you'll actually wear and you can keep it.

And so I did. I decided to pair the summer dress with all new items. A denim cut-off vest which I customized myself just a little bit, a flower head band, 'peace' ring and round sunglasses to get the hippie vibe going and... my new cut-out boots! I'm so absolutely thrilled with them, although I did have to search a little bit to find the perfect pair. Mostly because I didn't want to spend 100 euro's on boots like that (even though I totally loved the Sacha ones too). I'm over the roof happy with them and glad that I am jumping on this shoe trend train (while I didn't get aboard with the whole sneaker wedges thing, I guess it just wasn't my style).
