Containerships and Make-up

Saturday was a VERY hot day and it was also the day we were helping out a friend's friend (but hey, we're all friends here, right?). For her make-up classes, she wanted to transform us, two other friends and herself in straight up, don't-mess-with us rock chicks. And boy oh boy, did she succeed! Big hair and dark eyes were the two key ingredients of our looks that day. Add with that some leather, denim, camo and black clothes and a sniff of broody glances (yes, I've been reading the Fifty Shades books) and mission accomplished! I also learned something new: to get that lovely big hair, just hide some curlers in your hair. I'm totally trying that!

After getting ready and semi melting away in my case (plastic, fake leather pants are a bad idea when the sun is working in overdrive to compensate for her absence this summer), we took the car and went to a transport company to shoot some pictures. Although we got some funny looks when entering the domain, the containers proved to be a very good tool to authenticate the mood in the pictures. Besides, I totally love climbing and hopping off things, so yay! 

As Lies shot most of the pictures, I told her I'd select some of the pictures to post. But who am I actually kidding, I suck at doing that, making choices and all is just so tiring. So a warning of caution is at place here, picture overload ahead!

PS: Next week will be a quiet week for Peaches & Peaches, the blog that is, considering we're on a holiday to Labenne, France. For us personally however, I'm sure it will be anything but quiet!

What We Wear Wednesday: Coral Collar

The title of this post may have deceived you. You were all probably thinking that I was wearing one of these mega-fashionable collars in a coral shade. But instead the total blouse is coral and it happens to have a collar. What can I say: I love alliterations. I could've also said "Coral Chemise" but let's not fool ourselves: collar sounds so much better!

This intro has been totally useless because I just want to show you guys what I was wearing to the presentation of the F/W collection of TTGK last friday. I knew there would be a lot of ultra-fashionable people hanging around there that night and that I wouldn't be able to top them. And it's not a matter of 'topping' anyone, I just felt intimidated before I even got there, so I chose a more basic outfit: black skinny jeans, coral chemise (there you have it) and my black polka dot shoes combined with a thrifted bag that could fit my camera. I left my jacket in the car, it was like a 100 degrees inside the Muziekodroom.

These aren't my Zara skinnies as seen HERE, I bought these at Urban Outfitters about two years ago. And however Urban Outfitters isn't the cheapest store in town, these pants weren't too expensive at all! The black isn't really black anymore though, it seems more like a dark blue now. But they fit so damn perfectly that I can't seem to get rid of them. My shoes are also from UO and I bought them this spring. They were actually overpriced (50 euros YOW), but they were having sales for some reason so I bought them for only 20 euros, SCOOORE!  And only moments later I spotted the most perfect glitter boots at H&M, the same ones as Annebeth is rocking HERE and HERE, but my wallet forbid me to buy them. I listened, but oh hell it will have been the last time! I learned one thing: when it concerns GLITTER, just go for it. In fact, let it be a lesson for all of you!

TITI + THE GERMAN KID: The day destroys the night

The name "Kristien Follon" perhaps doesn't immediately ring a bell (make sure you remember it now). But when I tell you that she is actually TITI + THE GERMAN KID, you should all be "aaaaaah"-ing in front of your computer.

T + TGK is an emerging Belgian fashion label and last friday she bombed us with her F/W collection called "The day destroys the night". She invited us all to the Muziekodroom in Hasselt to take a peek at the new collection and to watch her short film she made to tell an even better story.

Everything's better at night, including your ideas. Why? Because everyone's asleep, so they're actually yours.

TITI usually works at night, so she decided to use this as inspiration for her new collection.  T + TGK stands for bright colors and happy prints. She replaced the bright colors for darker shades, but kept the happy prints (check out the big bear sweater!).

Because she could't tell the story behind this collection in just pictures, she also made a short film together with Cristophe Johanns. "Sex, rock 'n roll...en een koppeltje dat tv aan't kijken is.",  is how she announced her film. It made everyone laugh, and that's what I like about T + TGK: humor!  My favorite piece is the green fur jacket. It's actually waaaay beyond my budget (recently-graduated-still-looking-for-a-job-person) but it's absolutely worth it. At least I'll be in style while living in the gutter.

Retropolis - Vintage Festival

Last Saturday me and my guuurlfriends went to the Retropolis Vintage Festival, located at C-mine in Genk. As the name suggests, it's a festival all based on vintage and retro. And it was only one post ago that I was saying retro and vintage is HOT! The festival is organized by the already well-known Radio Modern and the C-mine site was the most perfect setting for their vintage festival.

We sure had a blast, but my friends kept telling me the last edition was better. I wasn't there, so I can't be the judge of that, unfortunately. This time they arranged several rooms, all representing another era: from the roaring twenties 'till the clubbing sixties. When you were tired of all the dancing, you could chill out and get your photo taken against a retro scenery (in which you couldn't actually sit...) or stroll through the vintage market. But I bet our market (look at the banner above) will be MUCH cooler! The only thing you couldn't do was eat. And we were starving! Okay, they arranged some bicky burgers, but I call that midnight-munchie-food and we wanted actual food. I'm a pain in the ass, I know. So we headed to the city center to eat a croque monsier, all dolled up from white socks in vintage shoes to fake (and HUGE) lashes.

I must say the Burlesque Revue by Follie Follies was absolutely amazing! It was actually funny and not cheap or anything at all! All the girls wore the most beautiful outfits, which they - ofcourse - also took off whilst shaking their goodies! And they all were well-curved and damn proud of their body, I'm in awe of their charisma.

What We Wear Wednesday: The Rock Show

It dawned on me while browsing through websites, blogs and fashion magazines. This autumn and winter, it's all about biker boots, urban style, studs, leather, denim, attitude, grunge, soft goth (not like those high school kids from back in the day of course, that is SO passé), rebellious... I don't know what that tells you, but for me it just screams "ROCK STAR!". The perfect opportunity to get your rock groove on! I decided to wear said style to celebrate the end of August (and pretty much summer), so I threw on some of the items already hanging in my closet (including a pants that is easily seven years old:  it was my first skinny pants, I remember feeling all insecure about it) and really go for the rock star look. I absolutely love that look and lately I'm even more inclined to it. Maybe because in my mind, I kick people's asses all the time and what's better than a though girl look to do that? Luckily (or sadly, because that would most certainly lead to some interesting scenes), I refrain myself from doing those things and just stick with shooting laser beams out of my eyes or imagining people's heads blowing up.

Well, I'd say enough with the anger management therapy class and psycho babbling. A few posts ago I talked about having too much leopard in my closet. I regret to announce that since then I bought at least two more leopard items which I'm both wearing here. The blouse was love/buy at first sight. I saw it, and before I knew it I was at the cash register. More doubt was casted on buying the jacket: I tried it on, said goodbye to it, looked longingly at it at the website, tried it on again and eventually bought it. Maybe it's just that kind of love that needs to grow to flourish, because boy, am I in love now!

We like: Bazaar Bizar Deluxe

Noticed the banner above? Well than, scroll up and click the damn thing! It will bring you to an awesome event, called Bazaar Bizar Deluxe.

One of our best friends (Eline Rodiers, already seen HERE) once had an idea, together with her friend, to start a vintage market where people could sell their clothes they didn't want anymore, secondhand shoes, vintage finds and other little treasures. All of those editions have been a giant success so they decided to spice things up a bit. And that's how the idea of Bazaar Bizar Deluxe was born. It's called "Deluxe" because of the unique location, the musical performances, special drinks and above all: only HANDMADE stuff. No secondhand stuff this time, no Etsy bricolage, only unique and handmade products.

Together with Sundays are Fundays, she created an event which will definitely be another big success. Even if you don't like handmade, it will be a blast! You can dance to the blues set of Tim Pan Alley or shake your ass on the funky tunes of DJ Duvel! Empty stomachs will be filled with de-li-cious (and also handmade) hamburgers of Asado Amigos. I'm not even a giant burger fan, but my mouth is watering while just talking about it.

So if you have nothing to do on Sunday september 23, get your ass over there to take a peek! I promise you it will be worth it. Karolien and myself will also be there to work but also to spot some well-dressed visitors. So if you want to be featured on this blog, put on your Sunday clothes and come pay us a visit! I'm not blackmailing at all.
