We Wear: Lies en Oreye.

6 AM is where the magic happens folks. I will generally deny this as I have to get up at this unholy (yet magical) hour every day for work. But on a random Sunday I don't mind getting up even more early to rummage around at a flea market. (I actually DO mind the first half hour after I dragged myself out of bed, but it's all uphill after coffee.)

While most of the vendors where still building their stall, I took advantage of the magical lighting the upcoming sun brought along and took some outfit pictures. I brought an apple because I didn't have the time for a proper breakfast and totally used it as a prop. Snow White much?

We didn't find many treasures unfortunately but I did find a brass pineapple for 8 euros which you can find on Etsy for the nominal price of 100 euros and counting!. Thank you old lady! 

We also spotted kittens, dogs and a pig with two goats crossing the street.

We Wear: Eat my shorts

This weather has got me craving for Groezrock (oh yes, the countdown has begun) so I thought it was appropriate to show you a potential Groez outfit. Dressing for festivals means dressing versatile with loads of layers and options for cold and warm weather. We all know I'm no hero in that area. I just put on boots and think I'll be safe in whatever weather circumstances.

These boots happen to be the oldest pair of shoes that I own. Their mine for nine (!) years now and that, my friends, is a record. It also confirms I'm getting old. I don't wear them that often anymore - read: never - but they have accompanied me to Groezrock before. An ideal festival boot if you ask me: they may get dirty, they spice up my outfit, they keep my feet dry and warm(ish).

The dungarees are new and a fun change from the usual shorts I wear to festivals. And when I spotted this Bart Simpson top I immediately pictured it with this outfit. I'm telling you, it's Groezrock whispering in my ears.

We Wear: Shine bright

I recently joined forces with what is on a fast track of becoming one of my favorite basics: the black turtleneck. Actually, I was going to write that I rekindled my love for this piece, but that would be a lie. I remember being forced to wear turtlenecks all winter when I was in primary school and hating every moment of it. From the static electricity gluing my hair to my face to the tickling of the turtleneck and the constant feeling of not being able to breathe as I was supposed to when playing at the schoolyard. Yep, I hated turtlenecks, especially the dark brown one I was obliged to wear on what seems a daily basis (still a color I hate from the depths of my soul). 

However, with the recent 90s revival and a cold winter, turtlenecks are now finally welcome in my life, although I only have one at the moment (insert sad face) and that one isn't actually technically mine at all (thank you, mom!). Nevertheless, people never change on real fundamental aspects of personality such as not being able to stand tightness around the neck, so I must admit that every single time I'm putting on this blouse, I hate it for just that fraction of a second. Luckily I get over it fairly quickly and can now finally say: Turtleneck, I'm a fan indeed. 

PS: Turtleneck would be an awesome name for a pet, I shall call my future cat Turtleneck!

What We Wear Wednesday: Dare to do dungarees

Today I'll take you guys back to the old school. Remember those times when all you had to worry about was getting at the dinner table in the evening in time in order to not piss off your mom? Those times when around this time of the year friends came on play dates, tents were built, Barbie dolls lived a dream life, camps were set up in the woods/backyard, trees were climbed and intruders were 'shot' with a bow and an arrow. Yes, I'm referring to the wonder years: childhood. 

I remember packing my backpack with all necessities for an afternoon of survival in the forest (read: our backyard and more importantly the meadows and orchards that lay behind it). A little something to drink, a cookie, my binoculars and my drawing pad with a lead pencil was really all I needed. I would stay away for hours, pretending to be an adventurist and drawing things (both real things as imaginative, although I'm still pretty sure I saw a real gnome back then). 

From time to time, it is necessary to let that inner child come out and play. So why not dress appropriately when that time comes? In my opinion, there is nothing more of a typical outfit for me when I was a kid than dungarees, although I have to admit I was more into the skirt dungarees at the time. 

Converses on, longboard with and let's play! 

(And maybe I should get that drawing pad from under the dust and go seek more adventures.)
