What We Wear Wednesday: Quiz me quick

Sunglasses: ModCloth - Checked blazer, loafers: H&M - Top: Vero Moda - Necklace: Carrefour - Skinny jeans, bow ring: New Look - Purse: thrifted

I wore this outfit to attend a quiz last Friday, hence the non-inspirational title of this blogpost. We ended up sixteenth out of fifty, so not that bad! Although I can't take credit for that. I really don't know by heart which is the sixth planet from the sun, or what the abbreviation EGKS stands for. I DID know who are the main two characters from the well-known trilogy "Fifty shades of Grey" while nobody else knew that (I mean, really?), and that was worth two points, hallelujah!

To the ones actually paying attention: yes I'm wearing the same loafers as I posted as inspiration in my previous post. They were too pretty not to take home, but they do hurt my feet like hell as they are rather stiff. The pricetag was also a bit higher than expected. I didn't really pay attention, I figured they would be 10 euros like most shoes at H&M, but then at the register I had to pay a lot more then I calculated in my head. Apparently these shoes cost almost 20 euros. Oops.

The blazer is actually a winter item and it gives me an English feel. I like the way it turned out combined with my flamingo top and burgundy pants. I can't stress it enough that burgundy pants are a must-have for everyone. It works well with EVERYTHING! My forest green thrifted purse also adds to the English feel. That really was a bargain, I should go thrift shopping more!

This is (or feels like) a rather classy, grown-up outfit, but I'm sure the flamingos, necklace, bow ring and pink nail polish make the whole thing a lot less boring and more "me". I'm sure people will still gasp when I say I'm actually 25. MISSION ACCOMPLISHED!

What We Wear Wednesday: Vancouver tales

Your eyes and mind are not fooling you, Vancouver tales are what I will share with you today. Last week I left cold, rainy Belgium for the less cold and less rainy, already springish even Vancouver in British Columbia (Canada) to visit my friend who lives there for a year. I've spent two complete days in this very diverse and interesting city, hanging out with my friend and enjoying these new surroundings.

The Vancouver tales come down to a few happy highlights that I will share with you guys, mostly because I don't have that much time to tell you elaborate stories. You know, I do have fun memories to create here, considering I'm still/again in Vancouver (I'll explain in a minute). So, highlights it is! Walking in Stanley Park with its enormous trees and the sea wall contour around it. Strolling around the city and Chinatown, eating great sushi and enjoying the atmosphere of the city. Discovering a store called Blim which made me cry because of all the pretty things, like shirts with paint drips on it and more (will do a DIY soon). Hiking up a huge ass mountain (crazy shit) named the Chief Mountain and almost dying. Eating the best veggie burger of all time at Whitespot in Richmond. Seeing cherry blossoms (haven't seen them in Belgium yet this year, so that was a pretty big deal). Having a cocktail in a rotating bar (Cloud 9) up in the sky. Man, it has been great so far!

I wore this casual outfit to stroll around Vancouver on my first day. Walking of course means comfortable shoes, and these booties are comfyyyy. I am so happy that I eventually decided to purchase them, good job Karolien! And the bag is so worn down, but I still love it to bits, so leave me with my messy bag.

I actually just returned to Vancouver, as we've spent the last 6 days in the great sunny Los Angeles. But that's a completely different tale which I will keep for a next time! Tomorrow it's time to hit ferry city Seattle for a few days, so bubaaai.

INSPIRATION: Jaime King aka Lemon Breeland

The word "inspiration" might not catch the whole thing that is going on here, as I'm heavily girl crushing on Jaime King. Not too heavy though, I'm still very much into boys.

Now how did this all happen? I started watching Hart of Dixie a few weeks ago. A new show about Zoë Hart (Rachel Bilson, known from The OC), a New York city girl trained to be a hart surgeon, ending up in a Southern little village called Bluebell to be a general practitioner. She doesn't fit in, thinks everyone living there voluntarily must be crazy in the coconut and starts flirting with Golden Boy George, who obviously flirts back. This happens to be the boyfriend-for-already-fifteen-years of Southern belle Lemon Breeland (my dear Jaime King). Lemon does everything in her power to get rid of Zoë which, of course, doesn't work. (This is a brief summary of the show, there is more to it than only this. Go check it out!)

At first you don't like Lemon (apart from her name which is amazing). She's spoiled, annoying and extremely neurotic. She really gets on your nerves and you wonder why on earth George still puts up with her. You just want him to ditch her and move on with Zoë allright. But then you get to know her. Her mother left them, she takes care of her little sister Magnolia (midst puberty) where her father fails to do so and actually completely replaces her mother in household chores and everything. You also start noticing her clothes and hair and that they always look impeccable.

And then suddenly it happens. You love Lemon and totally want to be her. Or at least that's how it went for me. I'm easily lured into these kind of things though.

Now for the clothes. Lemon is always dressed up in cute, vintage dresses and preppy cardigans. Her hair slightly curled, preferably with a flower on the side. When she's not dressed up, she reaches for pastel skinnies, slightly oversized jumpers and ballet flats. My kind of girl!

Now behold the beauty that is Lemon Breeland:

I tried to style some Lemon based outfits myself, let me know what you think!

What We Wear Wednesday: The Leather Jacket

A slightly different approach on our weekly concept today. Instead of showing an outfit, I'm going to highlight one of my favorite jackets ever. As in e-ver. Namely my hooded leather jacket from Zara. I bought it during summer 2008 and thought it was really cool because back then, you didn't see many leather jackets with a hood. Although afterwards they popped up in H&M as well, but the damage to my wallet had already been done.

So why do I want to write something about it? Well, Karolien left us for America on Sunday (hi, babe!) and that event got me strolling through my own New York pictures. Reminiscing and all. And I spotted me wearing that very same leather jacket as I've been sporting in my last few outfits. We're 2013 now, so that means I've been wearing that jacket for five years now. In my world, that's a pretty long time! It is a bit worn down and the color is turning green in some places, but I don't mind. I l-o-v-e it! It's living proof that a good basic item can go on for years.

So please join me on my journey through the world and party with me:

2008:

Damn, my hair was so curly back then!

2009:

NY subway!
On the Brooklyn Bridge!
On Times Square!
Groezrock!

Visiting my brother in Japan
There's supposed to be a view in the picture above, but it was too foggy. I remember it also ruining my hair.

See, and that's why I love that hood. It was raining but that didn't bother me!
Oh and it's detachable, another asset.

2010:

Pukkelpop!

2011:

It was snowing like crazy in the picture above, but still we went to this party in Genk. The guy next to me had to push my car back out of the snow. Good times! And I had an undercut back then, not something I miss actually, although I really liked it back then.

These pictures also remind me of the fact that I used to take a LOT more pictures. I need a new compact camera, it's my second memory. No actually it's my only memory because I forget things all of the time.

Hope you enjoyed this!
