We Wear: Indian summer

Anyone that has stepped outside in the past days knows this outfit is not weather adjusted anymore. I can't believe that only a week ago it really was, but alas summer has gone and it's time to bundle up in EVERYTHING. I mean it, I get up in the morning and all I want to do is wear all the clothes in my closet before stepping outside, or you know, just go in hibernation mode with a blanket covering my head. Of course I'm exaggerating, but only ever so slightly, 'cause it's really freaking cold. But not to worry, when I was wearing this outfit, my mind was already subconsciously preparing my body for an ice cold winter as I was on the look out for big, chunky oldschool knitted sweaters when browsing at Brussels Vintage Market. And boy oh boy did I score, I nabbed TWO awesome sweaters for a bargain price (girl has gotta buy her some furniture) and TWO fuzzy headpieces, enabling me to face King Winter in all its force!

Seriously, I should press this even more: Brussels Vintage Market really is a must see/go/buy. Imagine a huge market with all the prettiness that vintage is and which is held each and every month. Besides that, the general atmosphere is truly amazing, not to mention the music and all the cool people. Summer or winter, always a lovely time!

We wear: Cropped top

So where do we stand on crop tops? And by 'we' I mean you, our dearest readers, as I believe my opinion is pretty obvious. I absolutely love them and think my summer wardrobe should have MORE CROP TOPS. It's kind of becoming my mantra these days. I feel like they spice up every single outfit and just get me floating on a summer breeze by just thinking about wearing them. However, seemingly not everybody is as fond of them as I am. I mean, yes, a crop top can possibly show off a lot of skin that is under normal circumstances hidden. Notice the keyword being 'possibly', as in 'not necessarily' as yours truly exhibits in these pictures. I think it's rather subtle, no? And even if girls decide to wear them in a way where their belly button is showing, I can only applaud that they have built up enough confidence and have the guts (or lack thereof) to wear them that way. I do not however, so I'll stick with offering the world just a glance at my diaphragm.

Excuse me for the slight rant, I have been reading up on some articles about girl's body shaming and it infuriated me deeply. In addition, I've been writing and writing my PhD dissertation (due date is this month, hmpff) and I kind of feel my head is clouded and I'm overthinking  EVERYTHING.

What We Wear Wednesday: Pale Pink.

Actually, this could be the title of any of my WWWW's, I seem to wear a lot of pale pink. But what can I say? I love it! So I don't need to justify it, right?

I wore this outfit for my first days of work (summer job at L'exsellent in Lommel), as in: yesterday and the day before. Two days in a row?! OH NO WHAT A SHAME! Only that...it's not. This outfit is super comfy and that's all what your first days of work should be about. There's enough stressing about all the new stuff you have the learn and all. So while picking up wrinkles of all that thinking, I want to be in a comfortable outfit.

So I've been working for two days now (actually only one and a half to be quite honest) and I'm already kind of exhausted. However, I did photograph a wedding on Saturday. It was my first and I really underestimated all of the work! At half past seven, I was already taking my first pictures of the bride to be at the hairdresser's, and around half past midnight I stepped in my car to drive home. That's seventeen hours of almost non-stop photographing. It was really fun though. As a photographer, you can sneak around all day trying to capture all the little things that usually go unnoticed. I love sneaking around! And nobody bothers you because well...you're the photographer and you're allowed to sneak around! The luxury! But I'm getting of track, I was just explaining why I must be so tired now.

I love these skinnies I'm wearing. They're from ZARA and they are ab-so-lutely fantastic. I bought them four times, each in different colors. Skinnies tend to be not skinny enough (or does that just happen to me), but these fit perfectly. Everyone should own a black skinny jeans by the way. I love to combine black pants with more romantic shades, for instance this pale pink. The black toughens up the pink and the pink softens (the blow)* the black. The denim jacket finishes the look by saying "Yes, she's a chick you don't want to mess with". I also sometimes combine this look with my pale pink blazer you can see HERE. That might be too much of pale pink for the most of us, but not for me it isn't!.

What We Wear Wednesday

A great title for this blog post would be: Knee stockings and a crappy background. Because, well, let's not state the obvious, shall we? I would like to apologize for the horrible looking background of the pictures, but it's really the only 'garden' I have in Leuven and I hate taking pictures inside... I even pulled out some of the ever growing weed for these pictures! And I promise, next time there'll be green wavy trees and maybe even some flowers to really top it off. Or I'll just head for the nearest park of course.

All right, let's talk business/outfit now. This outfit really combines some of my all-time favorite things. First, there are the knee stockings. Aaah, the knee stockings... I can honestly say that I've practically been wearing them all autumn and winter and that when spring finallyyy arrived, I was a bit sad that I had to say goodbye to them. No such thing, though! Turns out a chilly spring leaves the opportunity to still wear stockings, but now on my bare legs instead with panties! So actually I'm happy that it isn't too hot right now (okay, I'm kind of lying here, or being a ridiculous optimistic all of a sudden).

The second item I totally love is the denim jacket. I simply love it. It's almost as if it's glued to my skin lately, I wear it that often! I even have a song about how much I love my jeans jacket (which annoys pretty much everybody, but it's catchy though). Besides from just being pretty, it can be combined with almost everything: cute dresses, pants... You name it! 

And third, a new love just arrived for a hopefully pleasant and long stay in one of my closets: the red purse. When I saw it in Topshop, I knew I had to have it. No sooner said than done and I found myself paying for it at the cash register in the blink of an eye. The only downside is that it is too small for my wallet to fit, but I guess that goes for a lot of my purses, considering my wallet is HUGE!
