We Wear: Chevron pencil

So I was too late with my picture taking and had to do it in the rain on Sunday. And we only had ten minutes to spare, I know I know...apologies! But I'm wearing new stuff, bright new stuff! When I spotted this skirt at Paplou I thought it was going to look hideous on me. I usually buy A-line skirts and avoid the pencil model for hip reasons. But the mirror told me I looked okay, so I believed it and took the skirt home with me. Together with the top. I fitted them together and thought it was a match made in heaven. I'm really looking forward to wear this skirt in summer with bare, tanned (yeah right) legs. Ah summer! Festivals! Beer! Music! Tattoos!

Excuse me while I dream on.

We Wear: Tartan

These past weeks have been hectic and busy as I'm currently deadlining - if you've seen me recently, you know it is a word - for a grant project proposal as a post-doctoral researcher. Now that the end is almost near and I can virtually touch that moment of relief, I feel like I can finally breathe again. That being said, I'll keep it short today. Brains fried and all.

One thing I would like to draw your attention to is, yet again, the magnificence that accompanies this jacket. I know I've said it before and I'll say it again a thousand times: It is divine. I think I finally found my true staple piece and the perfect replacement for my jeans jacket. If I can share some shopping advice with you: Go out into the world and search for the perfect black (bomber) jacket, that can just as easily be worn to attend fancier events as your average garage band concert. It is everything and everything in between. Additionally, it is a compliment magnet, which never hurt anybody. But be aware, your family members might go and rummage through your closet in a futile attempt to find this treasure. Now go, my children, and search!

PS: Thanks again to Paplou Hasselt for introducing me to the outstanding brand Louche!

PS2: And again a special thanks to my friend for snapping these photos!

We Wear: The Cloud

Cloud: Topshop via Zalando - Top: Paplou - Skinnies: Asos - Shoes: Paplou - Vintage Camera Bag: Etsy -
Necklace: birthday present

First of all: these pictures were taken on the last day of the holidays, in other words: I had to go back to work the next day. You may not know this yet, but I suffer from the holidayblues quit a bit. So that's why I'm not wearing my happy face (it's dusty, in the back of my closet somewhere). This can only mean I am in need of spring or that I need to eat more mushrooms. Shrooms do consist a lot of vitamin D, but they don't make you tan.

The cloud I'm wearing (I refer to my coat as "the cloud", I have been called a sheep, but I prefer cloud) does cheer me up though. It's so damn soft. I spotted this cloudy gem at the Topshop section of Zalando and I could almost feel the softness through my computer. I have to admit that I clicked it home while thinking that if it would not live up to my expectations, I could always send it back for free. That's the beauty of Zalando! Or is it the poison? Well, beauty is treacherous I suppose.

Another new, handy and much needed addition in my life is this bag I'm carrying. It's not just a retro satchel, it is a padded camera bag with enough room to hold my DSLR, extra lens and other necessities but not too big to be carrying too much stuff with you. When you want to use the satchel as just a satchel, you can remove the padded area as a whole and there you go. I found this beauty on Etsy and I can assure you it is the best purchase if you want a nice looking camera bag that isn't too bulky.

We Wear: Hassle in Hasselt

Finally! Some decent outfit pictures for you guys. I'm wearing an outfit that is my current favorite. So I will be wearing this until I'm dead tired of every single piece involved. My Christmas outfit even resembles this outfit. You've all seen me wear this hat, jacket and boots on multiple occasions already. This time I paired them with my new shorts from My Mum Made It, new polkadot panties by Zalando and new sparkly green top by Paplou. Love at first sight I tell you.

We went to Hasselt on Saturday to eat a bagel at Eve and Molly's (BEST bagels in town, I swear), made a very quick stroll through Winterland (I really wanted some glühwein) and bought a present for a baby visit the next day. And while you think this all happened in peace and quiet, you are wrong. Hasselt couldn't have been more crowded! So after the present we quickly escaped all the hassle with a well deserved coffee at King Kong Coffee. We ended up staying there for two hours and then went to Maasmechelen to see The Hourglass Instinct play an awesome set at a local gig.

A weekend well spent!
And before I forget: MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE!

We Wear: Paplou & Louche

After playing 'model' for a day with Hasselt based store Paplou a while back, I became an instant fan of their cutest of cute and edgy as rockers on speed clothes and accessories. Naturally, I had to return to take this treasure home with me: a lovely floral high waisted pencil skirt that flattered my body in ways other pieces of clothing never come to reach. I always had a predilection for high waisted pencil skirts and I absolutely adore the whole pin up vibe they carry, although I never feel quite comfortable in them, which most certainly has to do with specific bodily issues that no one else notices except me myself. Ladies, I know you're feeling me.

Skirt: Louche (Paplou) - Biker jacket, hat: H&M - Choker: Claire's - Brogues: Van Dalen

Anyway, that all changed - well, almost - when I slipped into this beauty. This skirt must be magical as it makes me feel like a real classy lady, a look that definitely will not unbecoming for the fast approaching holidays. Yes, indeed, the time has come to dress up once again (bring on the sequins), start gift wrapping, bake gingerbread men and decorate the Christmas tree, which will be my main activities for the next month. Expect some holiday outfit inspiration in the next few weeks!

Are you also looking forward to Christmas? And what is your go to outfit for the holidays?

We Love: Paplou

As we mentioned before, Karolien and I featured in a mini photoshoot for Paplou. When Klara asked us, I didn't know what to say at first. I'm no model you know. But I'm glad we eventually agreed to put our model faces on for a day as we ended up having loads of fun (and a gift card and free cava, I do a lot for free cava). It also helped that the owners of Paplou are the nicest girls (and they're sisters!) and sell a bunch of awesome clothes. I did feel like a pale dwarf next to these long-legged brunettes!

I'm no big talker today so I'll let the photos speak for themselves. Klara did the styling and our hair and the pictures and video are made by Sanne Rouma.
